Morale and Fortitude are an important part of the combat system in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Read on to learn how the Morale and Fortitude Systems work, and how to increase your Morale and Fortitude.
List of Contents
Morale is a player parameter that affects combat in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Its level is called the Morale Rank, and can be increased or decreased by doing certain actions when on a Mission.
Your current Morale Rank is the number above your health bar. This number starts at 0 at the beginning of a Mission and can be increased up a limit of 25.
Your enemies' Morale Ranks are also displayed as the number above their health bars. Trying to fight an enemy with a much higher Morale Rank than you will be very difficult.
Morale Rank determines how much damage you inflict to an enemy. A higher Morale Rank means you deal more damage. Enemies have their own Morale Ranks, and having a higher number than an enemy means you defeat them much easier.
Morale Rank also determines how much damage you receive; a higher rank means you take less damage, especially if you have higher Morale Rank than an enemy.
Morale Rank is a condition for activating Wizardry Spells. When your Morale Rank is lower than the required Morale Rank for a Wizardry Spell, you can't use that spell.

Valuable items can be gotten by defeating enemies with a higher Morale Rank than you. However, it's also more difficult, so do this only if you're confident with your ability to defeat them.

How to Gain Morale Points |
---|
Accumulating a certain amount of Morale Points raises your Morale Rank. Think of it in other game terms as Morale being the Experience and Morale Rank being the level.
You may check your Morale Rank and how much Morale Points above your HP bar. As you accumulate Morale Points, the area around the rank number will start turning orange until the Morale Rank increases.
The most straightforward way to gain Morale is to kill enemies. Killing an enemy with a Fatal Strike gives out more Morale Points.
Successfully performing a Spirit Attack, Martial Arts, as well as Fatal Strike on an enemy, even if it doesn't kill them, gives out Morale Points. It will also lower their Morale Rank.
Planting either a Battle Flag or Marking Flag in a level also rewards Morale Points.

Offering a charge of your Dragon's Cure Pot at a Burial Flag temporarily raises your Morale Rank by 2.

How to Lose Morale Ranks |
---|
Critical Blows are enemy attacks that are visualized by the enemy glowing red; when you get hit by it, you lose one Morale Rank.
Avoid losing a Morale Rank by dodging or deflecting the Critical Blow.
Dying in a level decreases your Morale Rank down to your current Fortitude Rank.
It also increases the Morale Rank of the enemy that defeated you by one, making them harder to defeat next time. You can regain the Morale Rank you lost by taking revenge on the same enemy; however, if you die before that, those lost Morale Points will be lost forever.
The Fortitude Rank is directly related to Morale Rank; it is the lowest number that your Morale Rank can decrease to. If you die in a Mission, you respawn with your current Fortitude Rank.
Like Morale Rank, the Fortitude Rank is set to 0 at the start of a Mission. However, unlike the Morale Rank, your Fortitude Rank can not be lowered.
Your current Fortitude Rank is displayed at the upper right corner of your screen beside the Fortitude Icon. Below your Fortitude Rank, you'll see the amount of Battle Flags and Marking Flags you have planted in the level.
Planting either a Battle Flag or Marking Flag raises Fortitude along with giving Morale Points.
Make sure to explore a level thoroughly to find places to plant flags and become stronger.
