Best Stats To Increase

Wood Virtue is the Highest Priority

Raising Wood Virtue allows you to increase your HP which is arguably the best stat to increase in Wo Long especially due to its death mechanic which sets you behind everytime you die. The less you die in the game, the more smoother your playthrough will be so investing in defensive stats as soon as you can is vital.

Increase Stat that Synergize With Chosen Weapon

Aside from increasing your HP, each weapon has their own stat scaling and increasing the stat that the weapon highly synergizes with is necessary to maximize your damage output!

Increase Stats Depending on Build

Aside from weapons, it is also vital to consider the build you want to play with! If you are going for a magic build, Metal and Fire Virtue will be valuable due to increased spirit gauge drain and increased spell duration. Make sure to choose a build first then prioritize stats that will synergize with it!

Can You Respec Your Stats?

Respec Stats From Chapter 3 Onwards

Once you reach Chapter 3, you'll be able to respec your stats at the base. Once in the base, you can speak to Zuo Ci then choosing Reset Parameters will allow you to respec your stats so feel free to explore builds int he game! You'll first have to rescue Zuo Ci from the mountains by clearing Part 3's first main quest “In Search of the Immortal Wizard”. Once done, you can find Zuo Ci in the house near the battle flag.

Respeccing Stats is Free

To Respec your stats, you only need to accomplish the requirement of reaching chapter 3 and unlocking Zuo Ci, there are no other costs such as Genuine Qi or Copper to respec your character stats.

Stat Effect
Wood Virtue Affects HP and the amount of Spirit lost when attacked.
Fire Virtue Affects the amount of Spirit gained when attacking, and the amount of Spirit consumed by Martial Arts.
Earth Virtue Affects the equipment weight limit and the amount of Spirit gained when deflecting an attack.
Metal Virtue Affects the duration that a high level of Spirit can be maintained for, and the Spirit consumed by Wizardry Spells.
Water Virtue Affects how easily enemies can detect you and the amount of Spirit consumed when deflecting.

These are the five virtues that you can increase when levelling and their effects on your character's stats when increased. Be sure to choose the necessary stats that you wish to increase depending on the playstyle you choose on your playthrough!

Combat Abilities

Stat Effect
HP The amount of damage you can take before dying.
Melee Weapon 1 Attack Power Affects how much damage is dealt when striking an enemy with melee weapon 1.
Melee Weapon 2 Attack Power Affects how much damage is dealt when striking an enemy with melee weapon 2.
Ranged Weapon Attack Power Affects how much damage is dealt when striking an enemy with a ranged weapon.
Defense Affects how much HP is lost when hit by an attack.
Physical Resistance Affects damage received from enemies' physical attacks.
Spirit Defense Affects how much Spirit is lost when hit by an attack.
Spirit Sustainability Affects the duration that a high level of Spirit can be maintained for.
Spell Duration Affects the duration of positive effects and ailments bestowed by the user's Wizardry Spells
Stealth Affects the damage dealt by Fatal Strike to unaware enemies, and how easily enemies can detect you.

Spirit Gain Rate

Stat Effect
Attack Affects the amount of Spirit gained upon striking an enemy.
Deflect Affects the amount of Spirit gained upon deflecting an attack.

Spirit Consumption Rate

Stat Effect
Martial Arts Affects the amount of Spirit needed for Martial Arts.
Wizardry Spells Affects the amount of Spirit needed for Wizardry Spells.
Deflect Affects the amount of Spirit needed for deflecting attacks.

Equipment Weight

Stat Effect
Max The total equipment weight limit beyond which movement is impractical.
Proportion Total equipment weight as a proportion of the limit. The lower this is, the nimbler your movement.
Agility How light you are on your feet. This varies depending on the weight of your gear. The greater your agility is, the less Spirit is spent on Martial Arts. Deflecting and dodging also becomes easier.
