Spell Explanation
Inner Breath IconInner Breath It is an amazing spell to have since it charges up the Divine Beast Gauge quickly! Inner breath can be used early on in the game since it only has a virtue requirement of 4.
Amplify Damage IconAmplify Damage Having a 1.4x damage buff is no joke and it even lasts for 20 seconds! Hence, Amplify damage is a great wizardry spell to have with a virtue requirement of 8.
Frost Lance IconFrost Lance Frost Lance is easy to use and can be fired continuously. Additionally, its firepower scales with water morale. Since Frost Lance has a virtue requirement of 1, it can be used without upgrading your Water Virtue.
Ominous Chill IconOminous Chill Ominous Chill is very strong against large enemies. Since there are a lot of large bosses in the game, this wizardry spell is useful during boss fights. Lastly, Ominous Chill can be used through walls since it locks on targets.

Absorb Vitality

Required Virtue 3 Required Morale 0
Effect You and your nearby allies can restore HP upon dealing damage to enemies

Absorb Vitality restores HP when you damage enemies. Hence, you can conserve recovery items. Since the number of recovery items that you can possess early in the game is very limited, having Absorb Vitality will lessen your chances of dying when battling enemies. Since the virtue and morale requirement is low, Absorb Vitality can be used from the very beginning.

Inner Breath

Required Virtue 4 Required Morale 0
Effect Increases the accumulation of the Divine Beast Gauge for a certain period of time

Inner Breath quickly charges up your Divine Beast Gauge. Hence, you can summon divine beasts more frequently. Inner Breath allows you to fill up the gauge once in a single battle. So make sure to use Inner Breath especially when you use Divine Beasts frequently.

Perfect Restoral

Required Virtue 30 Required Morale 15
Effect Grants you and your nearby allies a positive effect that completely negates an enemy attack once

Perfect Restoral completely negates any enemy’s attack once. So this spell is useful for enemies whose moveset you are not really familiar with. However, Perfect Restoral is ineffective against enemies that continuously attack. Note that the effect of the spell wears off when you guard.

Spirit Fervor

Required Virtue 6 Required Morale 3
Effect Grants you and your allies a positive effect that increases Spirit gain when attacking

Spirit Fervor fills up the Spirit Gauge when attacking. Hence, it makes it easier for you to fill the gauge up. With this, this skill is has good synergy with skills that uses spirit.

Amplify Damage

Effect For a certain period of time, increases both the damage you deal to enemies and receive from them

Amplify Damage is a powerful spell that increased damage dealt by 1.4x for 20 seconds. However, this is not the right spell for you if get hit by enemies most of the time.

Blasting Flare

Required Virtue 1 Required Morale 3
Effect Emits an eruption of flames to the front

Blasting Flare can be cast quickly. Using this skill in any close-range situation will allow you to easily burn enemies.

Bursting Fireball

Required Virtue 15 Required Morale 12
Effect Hurls a large fireball that will split into multiple small fireballs and explode after a certain period of time or upon hitting an enemy or terrain

Bursting Fireball is a spell that will allow you to deal high amounts of damage. However, use it wisely since it consumes a large amount of your Spirit Gauge.

Overpower Burst

Effect Greatly increases the damage dealt by the Wizardry Spell or Martial Arts next used

Overpower Burst doubles the power of the next wizardry spell and martial arts skill that you use. Since its effect only applies to the next spell or skill that you use, it is a good idea to use Overpower Burst when you want to maximize the damage dealt with a single shot.

Illusionary Shell

Effect For a certain period of time, create an invisible shield around you that absorbs a certain amount of damage

Illusionary shell is a powerful spell that absorbs damage for a certain period of time. However, the total amount of damage absorbed is fixed. Once exceeded, the effect of the spell will wear off.

Enhanced Defense

Required Virtue 2 Required Morale 3
Effect For a certain period of time, you receive less damage from enemies and will not flinch except from some powerful attacks

Enhanced defense is convenient because it makes you not flinch when attacked. However, some powerful attacks bypass this spell’s effect. This spell is effective when you want to tank enemies’ attacks.

Imposing Slab

Required Virtue 8 Required Morale 7
Effect Generates rock pillars in front of you that linger temporarily and explode when enemies touch them

Imposing Slab is a powerful spell that deals a lot of damage if you can land it. Additionally, you can also reduce morale loss when the spell is used. However, Imposing Slab cannot be used against moving enemies.

Mighty Shockwave

Effect Unleashes a shockwave around you that will blow away nearby enemies

Mighty Shockwave is a spell that can be used to blow away enemies. This spell is useful in situations where you want to make enemies fall from high places.

Venom Snare

Effect Releases a curse bolt to the front that will form a poison fog around the enemy it hits. The fog will cause damage over time to enemies touching it

Venom Snare can be used to continuously inflict poison damage on enemies hit by it. It is a long-range spell and it deals decent damage.

Calamity Bolts

Required Virtue 4 Required Morale 3
Effect Releases curse bolts to the front. Enemies hit will deal less damage for a certain period of time

Calamity Bolts reduce the damage received from enemies hit by about 25%. It can be used from the beginning of the game since the spell has a virtue requirement of 4 and morale requirement of 3. Additionally, Calamity Bolts also allows you to conserve recovery items.

Life Wither

Required Virtue 7 Required Morale 15
Effect Releases a curse bolt to the front. Enemies hit will receive some damage for a certain period of time

Life Wither increases the damage dealt to enemies hit by 1.3x. However, it has a high morale requirement of 15.

Thorn Shot

Required Virtue 25 Required Morale 0
Effect Releases curse bolts that create thorns on contact with enemies or terrain. Enemies that step on the thorns will be slowed for a certain period of time

Thorn shot is a skill that has a low spirit consumption and it can also be used with a morale requirement of 0. This spell can be used as a trap since enemies hit by it will be slowed for some time.

Ominous Chill

Effect Summons small icicles to continuously fall on the locked-on target or on a point at a certain distance to the front

Ominous Chill can cause icicles to rain continuously from the air, making it extremely effective against large enemies and bosses. It is also strong against Lu Bu (Second Encounter) in part 5. This spell is also effective against Yu Ji during his second phase in part 6.

Also, since you can lock on enemies through walls, you can easily defeat enemies on the other side of the wall.

Frost Lance

Effect Summons a sharply pointed icicle to the front. The icicle will accelerate forward or toward the target you locked on to prior to casting the spell.

Frost Lance is a simple spell that throws icicles in front of you. It's easy to use with a fast attack speed and quick activation. This spell is also available at the start of the game.

Frozen Spear Trap

Required Virtue 3 Required Morale 3
Effect Sets an icy trap by your feet. Enemies that step on the trap will be impaled by sharp icicles, and take damage

Frozen Spear Trap can set ice traps at your feet and deal damage when enemies get on them. Set it up before a battle to lure enemies and deal damage. It is also effective against enemies climbing ladders and cliffs.

Alacrity Haste

Required Virtue 4 Required Morale 7
Effect Increases movement speed for a certain period of time

Alacrity Haste increases your movement speed, making it easier to move. Dashing is also considerably faster, and it can be used when you want to traverse the stages more quickly.

Aqua Blink

Required Virtue 20 Required Morale 7
Effect Allows you to instantly teleport a certain distance

Aqua Blink allows you to teleport to a certain distance instantaneously. You can use it to move out of combat and also to avoid enemy attacks.
