This is a guide about the difficulty of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Read on to see if you can reduce the game difficulty in the settings, and how to make beating levels easier.
List of Contents
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty follows the footsteps of its fellow soulslike games by being extremely difficult for the inexperienced and unprepared.
You'll be forced to learn how the enemies move and attack, and you'll get destroyed if you don't know how to avoid taking damage; it's designed to be this way. Take the time to learn and improve as you play through the game!
Unfortunately, no, there's no way to reduce the game's difficulty to an Easy Mode. Everyone has to play at the same difficulty; you'll have to rely on your skill and knowledge to defeat tough enemies.
The Morale and Fortitude system affects how easy to beat enemies and get through a level. It would be very beneficial to know how this system works.
Note that both of these are reset to 0 at the start of a level, so you need to raise them again for every level.
Morale and Fortitude Effects and How to Increase
Having a Morale Rank higher than your enemy makes it much easier to defeat them; you deal more damage and take less damage if you have a Morale Rank higher than the enemy.
Grind Morale on weaker enemies; landing your Martial Attacks, Spirit Attacks, and Fatal Strikes also gives out more Morale.
While there are ways to raise your Morale Rank, facing tough enemies will usually lower it. Getting hit by a Critical Blow reduces your Morale Rank by 1, while dying reduces your Morale Rank down to your Fortitude Rank.
To avoid losing Morale Rank, you need to increase your Fortitude Rank. It gets easier with a high Fortitude Rank since you won't need to worry as much when you die to a tough enemy; you can just try again with your Morale Rank intact.
Planting Battle Flags and Marking Flags in a level increases Fortitude Rank as well as gives some Morale Points, so explore the map as much as possible!
Battle Flag and Marking Flag Difference
A huge part of combat in this game is learning to dodge and deflect attacks! Dodging allows you to avoid damage taken at the cost of some Spirit. Deflecting, while harder, provides great benefits when successfully pulled off, such as giving Morale Points and restoring Spirit.
When faced with a tough enemy you can't defeat, you'll just have to persevere! Study their attack patterns when you face them so that you can dodge and deflect to survive and eventually beat them. As you do this again and again, your skills will eventually get better and you'll be able to use these skills you practiced to beat even tougher enemies later in the game.
How to Deflect
It might seem basic advice, but yes, being more knowledgeable about the game's mechanics will make it easier! Aside from the tips above, there's a lot more ways to make the game easier for yourself. Read through our guides to improve your knowledge in the game.
Beginner's Guide
While there is no way to make the game easier in the settings, this game does have a New Game Plus mode, which makes the game harder. In Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, this Hard Mode is called Rising Dragon, and is unlocked after completing the game once.
In this mode, enemies have higher attack and greatly increased health! You can switch difficulty modes at any time by moving the flag in the Stage Select Menu.
