Polaris is the third most powerful guild in World 21 in terms of BP. Game8 spoke with its Guild Master, Lillia, about the guild's beginnings, tips for new players, and what their guild is all about.
How Polaris Got Started
Like many other players, Lillia said she began playing MementoMori after watching a YouTube ad for it. "The art and the music seemed good, so I started playing blindly, not knowing much about the gameplay. Not that much of a hassle, but hitting midgame is the hardest part. That’s where you really need to know your stuff, IMO," Lillia explained.
Lillia cites the friendships forged within the game as the primary reason for sticking with it. "The AFK gameplay is nice for a busy schedule, and the art and music are really good. But what truly made me stay was talking to my friends every day about this game."
Polaris itself was born from adversity. The guild master recalled, "I planned to quit altogether, but W21 arrived, and I made Polaris. Most of my friends came to join Polaris too, so I shelved that thought."
And the guild has its work cut out for itself, as it's part of a world that's competitive - especially when it comes to Guild Battles. "The world is mostly dominated by Lacrimosa and Rosary," Lillia explained. "Polaris tries our best to get Modave while providing cover for smaller guilds. Wherever they can break through the defense, it is up to them, since most Rosary whales will be defending against us."
Newcomers Should Make Friends
When asked for advice for beginners, the very first thing Polaris' Guild Master said was to make friends. "Befriending is a core gameplay of this game. I hope everyone will interact more and don’t be shy to ask for advice."
Another thing players had to remember was to optimize their progression. "MDB 9/9/9 will help you until Chapter 17," Lillia said, referring to how players should have three Level 9 Runes on their main attacker while pushing through the Main Quest. "Focusing on runes is not an immediate thought for beginner players, which is why most are stuck early in the chapters besides being under-leveled."
Always Know What Banners to Pull From
Lillia also mentioned how players need to know some elements of MementoMori that would be obscure to new players, particularly those related to its gacha systems.
"MementoMori tends to hide things in later chapters: IoC (Invocation of Chance), IoSG (Invocation of Stars' Guidance), Gear Gacha," Lillia said. "Most new players usually end up pulling on (Invocation of the) Cursed or (Prayer of the) Fleeting and spend all their diamonds too early."
The Invocation of Chance banner is unlocked after clearing Quest 11-28, while the Gear Gacha is unlocked after clearing Quest 13-22. Invocation of Stars' Guidance, meanwhile, only becomes available to a player after they clear Quest 17-4.
The Invocation of Chance is notable as it allows players to target witches that are featured in the Prayer of the Fleeting banner, while also giving them the chance to win useful resources like Kindling Orbs and Gear Scrolls.

Polaris is a relaxed and welcoming guild that prioritizes enjoyment and camaraderie. "Our motto is to think of Polaris as a place to rest," said Lillia. If you’re looking for a guild that values teamwork and friendship, consider joining Polaris in World 21.
