| Steps to proceed through The Brawn and The Brain | |

| 1 |  Find the side quest marker on the map of Barrendale Mesa. |
| 2 |  Interact with the Darkmess Puddle to start the quest. |
| 3 |  Activate Ethering on Luigi so that the enemies don't target him during their turn. Use Steely Stare to attack them as they move towards Bowser. |
| 4 |  Move Bowser every turn until both Heroes are in the same area. Summon the Rabbid Mechakoopas to draw attention away from them. |
| 5 |  Take out the Oozer and Depleter first. Then, move your Heroes away from the black holes that spawn Riptides at every turn. |
| Note: Bowser and Luigi are the only playable Heroes for this battle. |
