Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope (Mario Rabbids 2) contains new and returning features from the first Mario + Rabbids game in the franchise. Read on to learn everything we know so far about the game's new and returning features.

New Playable Heroes

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope introduces four new playable heroes in the roster. We speculate that three of these characters will be unlockable during the story. Rayman, on the other hand, is unlockable as a DLC character.

No Restrictions to Selecting Characters

In Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, you can select three characters to deploy in the battlefield but you are required to have Mario and one Rabbid Hero in the party.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope removes this restriction, allowing you to select any character you want to use them on the battlefield.

Fully Voiced Rabbids

The Rabbids in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is fully voiced, a first in the Rabbids franchise. Previous games only have the Rabbids speaking in gibberish.

In addition, Beep-0, the robot ally from the previous game, is also fully voiced.

Real-time Elements in the Turn-Based Strategy Gameplay

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope uses a different combat system that utilizes real-time combat. Instead of a grid-based layout like in the previous game, you can move around freely before using your weapon to end your turn.

Secondary Weapons No Longer Available

While Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle allowed Heros to equip both Primary and Secondary Weapons, you are only allowed to use one weapon type with each hero. However each weapon type is unique to each Hero, adding more individualty and strategy to each party member combination.

Partner Up with Sparks

Sparks are stars with rabbit-like creatures that you need to rescue as part of the story. Partnering up with at least two Sparks offer you active skills and passive buffs to turn the tide of battle.

Less Linear Levels

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope provides more exploration options compared to the previous game in the series. We speculate that there are side quests you can accept and secrets to uncover in each hub.

Attack Enemies to Battle Them

In addition, you can also find enemies roaming around in these hubs. Attacking them to start a battle.

Opponent's Level is Now Visible

The levels of the enemies you will face will be displayed above the enemy's head. You can carefully select who you will battle with this feature.

Six playable heroes will make a return in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. These include Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Luigi, and Rabbid Peach.

These characters are available once you land on the first planet, Beacon Beach.
