Description | Prepares to attack from an elevated position where she is fully protected, even behind Partial Cover. Able to fire two projectiles at two separate targets. Uses Ooze effects on opponents when they get too close. | |
Daphne's Attacks and Abilities |
Bramble Shot: Fires two long-range projectiles with a curved trajectory at up to two targets.
Slimy Swell: Meteors with the Ooze Super effect rain upon enemies, poisoning all within range. Fresh Start: Can change the battleground layout. Optimize Cover: Grants full protection even behind Partial Cover. Climb x1: Quickly climb to high ground. Square One: Always return to initial position. |
Getting to Daphne as quick as possible is your highest priority in this fight, as you cannot attack her at all from a lowered position. Be sure to choose characters with great movement and only attack other enemies when it is absolutely necessary.
Step-by-Step Guide | |
---|---|
1 | From the Windmill entrance, fast travel to your ship and head to Momma's Garage. |
2 | The Hunter of the Mesa (Battle Quest) The goal of the first phase of this battle is to get to Daphne while taking as little damage as possible. Instead of focusing your entire party passing through each pipe, have one on the opposite end to keep the Sea Stooges busy. Note: The further away the Sea Stooges are from the pipes, the better, as their splash attacks can knock your Heroes out of bounds. |
* | Tip 1: Consider using Glitter's ability, Gather 'Round, to distract the Sea Stooges from the pipes and take them down by bulk! |
* | Tip 2: Another precaution is to use Luigi's Steely Stare in order to take down any stray foes that made it out alive. |
3 | Once you get close enough to Daphne, the best way to damage her would be by attacking her from the sides as her front is completely protected. |
4 | The second phase of this battle operates the same way, but on different terrain. Try your best to take down Squashettes from afar as their gust attacks can easily send your Heroes flying, allowing them to be an easy target from Daphne herself. Note: Squashettes are weak to frostbite, while Lone Wolves are weak to burn. |
5 | Once you manage to get behind Daphne, it shouldn't take too long until she's defeated for the second time. |
6 | In the third and final phase, you can get to Daphne quickly by chaining Team Jumps alongside the usage of nearby jump pads and pipes. Use the barrels scattered across the map as well as Super Effects to keep enemies leading up to Daphne busy. |
7 | After defeating Daphne, you will receive the second Purified Darkmess Energy Crystal allowing you to move to the next Planet! |
Hero | Sparks | Role |
---|---|---|
Mario | Toxiquake | Mario's movement and ability to attack multiple enemies is incredibly useful, as you will have to constantly be on the move to get to Daphne. Use Toxiquake for both residual poison damage, and resistance to Daphne's attacks |
Pyrogeddon |
Hero | Sparks | Role |
---|---|---|
Luigi | Exosphere | Luigi shines in this battle, as staying far away is the key to survival. A combination of Luigi's Sharpshooter attacks from a distance, as well as his Steely Stare Signature Ability, will allow him to deal high damage from a safe position while repelling any enemies that try to approach him. Exosphere and Ethering will help you reduce and avoid damage. |

Edge | Glitter | Similar to Mario, Edge's great movement will help out a lot when attempting to reach Daphne quickly. Maxing out the number of dashes she has will help with taking out foes while staying on the move. Glitter will allow you to mow down foes with her Flying Blade, while Reflector is used to indirectly attack Daphne by reflecting attacks. |

Daphne is the main boss of Barrenland Mesa. Unlike, the other Spark Hunters, she is seen to be quite proficient with capturing Sparks and is highly favored by Cursa.
It was on Barrendale Mesa that we crossed paths with the most vile, corrupt Spark Hunter of them all - Daphne. She toyed with us like a cat would with a mouse, though she is derived from neither. Cursa instead fused Rabbid DNA with a rare species of pink climbing rose - those often found in secretive corners of moonlit gardens. She is sneaky and uses her thorns well - not to defend, but to destroy.
Jeanie
While not as cunning or strong as Midnitet or Bedrock, her sinister personality makes her far more dangerous. She is known for having a twisted personality makes her a proficient killer, as shown in her boss fight, when she places herself at the highest point and fires deadly thorns at the Heroes beneath her.
