This weapon is focuses on magic over physical attack. Pick up the Magic Attack Power, as well as Auto-Remedy skills at the first opportunity. After that, it would be a good idea to unlock the Elemental Damage up skills as well.
In most battles, Sonon should have the Provoke Materia equipped and use the Incite Ability frequently to allow Yuffie to continue hammering away. This makes for a great pair with the Incendiary Limit Breaks Ability, which should be unlocked as early as possible.

Some of this information is incorrect. The "fully upgraded" attack and magic don't seem to include the bonuses from Sub-Core IV. Fully upgraded, Attack is 82 and Magic is 96. I checked this in my own game, and the math on this page also supports those numbers. Also, the fist core doesn't give two Elemental Damage Boosts. The second one should be "Elemental Defense 5% Boost"
