This weapon is primarily focused on magic and ninjutsu, so Magic Attack, Elemental Attack, Shuriken Master, and Trade-Off are all skills to unlock right away. If you can make appropriate use of Precision Defense, it will increase Yuffie’s defense and survivability, so it’s a good choice for those confident they can use it.
As leveling up your Materia with AP is highly necessary in the INTERmission DLC, you'll want to unlock the AP Up upgrade first to ensure you are getting as much AP as possible on all Materia throughout the game. This upgrade increases the AP yield for all Materia equipped by both Yuffie and Sonon, so it's one of the best ways to farm AP available in the DLC.
One of the abilities in the final sub-core of the Boomerang is MP Regeneration 50% Boost. MP Regeneration is one the only methods available in Hard Mode to recover MP, and is essential for making it through the difficult Nero fight. With this effect, Yuffie will recover 1 MP every 10 seconds normally, and will recover more when she takes damage.
