While it has a rather low attack stat, this weapon's strength lies in its ability to get guaranteed critical hits on enemies when Barret has low HP. This weapon will be most effective if you are planning on controlling Barret while he has it equipped.
Prioritize upgrading all of the Critical Hit Rate / Damage skills first, as well as the low HP ones. Following that, get the remaining magic attack upgrade buffs, then the materia slots and remaining skills as you see fit. Reprieve is also a great skill for this weapon, but it cannot be learned until weapon level 6.
