Dragon Quest 2 HD-2D Remake (DQ2)

How to Beat the Brute Bat

Add to Watchlist

Brute Bat is a boss encountered in the Dragon Quest 2 HD-2D Remake (DQ2). See how to beat this boss, the best equipment for the fight, and the boss' stats and moves here.

How to Beat the Brute Bat

Wear Anti-Sleep and Fizzle Equipment

The hardest part of this fight is the multiple status ailments that the boss can apply. Most of the Brute Bat's attacks apply sleep, so make sure that everyone's wearing anti-sleep equipment, like Rousing Rings.

Also, the boss can occasionally apply Fizzle as well. Make sure that everyone besides the Prince of Midenhall has anti-Fizzle equipment as well, like Care Rivières.

List of All Equipment

Maintain the Kabuff Buff

Outside of status effect applying moves, the Brute Bat only has physical attacks in its arsenal. Make sure that Kabuff is always active to minimize the amount of damage that the party takes.

Kabuff Effect and Level Learned

Reduce Attack with Attack Attacker

To add an extra layer of safety, you can also use the Prince of Midenhall's Attack Attacker to reduce the boss's attack stat. However, this isn't necessary if you're properly levelled and equipped, and it's recommended to just go on the offensive instead.

Attack Attacker Effect and Level Learned

Spam Oomph-Boosted Flying Knees

To quickly take down the boss, it's recommended to buff the Prince of Midenhall with Oomph and spam Flying Knee. This will do a ton of damage to the boss, but remember to prioritize survival first.
