How Does Stunning Work? | Enemy Interruption

★ Game8's Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Wiki is live now!

This is a guide on stunning in Final Fantasy 7 Remake (FF7R). Read on to find out how stunning works and what hidden stats govern it!

What is Stunning?

Stunning in Final Fantasy 7 Remake occurs when Cloud and co.'s attack is strong enough to either knock down smaller enemies or prevent them from pulling off an attack. This is determined by what we'll be calling stun power and stun defense. Stun power is a hidden stat on all attacks while stun defense is on characters and enemies. The formula for stunion is as follows:

Attack's Stun Power > Target's Stun Defense

For example, your party member's stun defense is typically 20, while most abilities' stun power ranges between 40-60. This is why many have noticed that getting hit by an enemy ability while casting a healing spell ends with them being knocked down before the spell can go off. If the ability's stun power is equal or less than the target's stun defense, damage will still be dealt but the target will not be stuned, however staggering an enemy will ignore stun defense and cancel the target's ability.

Situations Where Stunning Doesn't Work

  • While guarding.
  • When damage dealt is resisted, negated or absorbed.
  • Cloud cannot be stunned during the Infinity's End animation.

Yes you can. Easiest way to confirm is doing a limit break and switching to another party member to get a better view.
