You had to charge ATB in the original to use items... If it didn’t require ATB then you could spam damage items like grenades.
I have been a fan of the FF series since the beginning and have been waiting for this game for too long. I love a lot about it, but I absolutely HATE that use of items is dependent on building ATB first. I mean it make sense to build that for use of spells and abilities, but items should not require building ATB first as it make several fights harder than they need to be. I also HATE requiring certain actions (i.e. high five Aerith) before story can continue. Other than that, Great Game so far.
