Didn't know that you can change characters using the D-pad. Thought it's just the L2 and R2. Thank you for this!!!
During the laser tail attack, the other party member gets behind the debris automatically but during any other part of the battle, they still get hit by some attacks
Does your characters automatically move during boss fights to dodge hazardous attacks like the scorpion's laser tail? Or do I need to position them manually?
This also opens up more strategies for certain enemies that can't be defeated by normal means!
This feature is nice to have. I think this is one upgrade from the turn-based system. I like the power they gave us, the freedom to choose. Which character should attack next? Comparing to the turn-based, you don't have the choice to do that. The means of attacking will go around from the first, second to the third character or more and the chain repeats.
Always changes character to issue their command rather than using the L2 and R2 Button shortcut. Fk me.
The character change is so seamless! It doesn't disrupt the flow of combat and the issuing of orders further help it in that aspect.
It takes practice but that means you can fix it with your skill. Unlike the lock on camera that can't be fixed by getting better.
I kinda agree with that. It will take practice. It's tricky enough to control and master one character. Timing is the key to changing characters, i guess and will also depend on the enemy.
Changing characters and issuing commands took some practice to master for me. It would be more realiatic for me if the reviewers said they were having trouble with this than the lock on system.
For a single player RPG it really does make it feel like a team effort when issuing a command to another character. Getting that crucial move in clutch moments is very satisfying

love that you can issue commands to characters you aren't controlling. feels like a nice callback to the old system
Reading this, I begin to wonder when to best change character, between Cloud and Baret, during the boss fight in the demo. Is there a proper timing for us to easily beat that machine? Well, it's common sense to change character when the boss grabs Cloud, but other than that? 🤔
Just have to play to find out then
Modes are unique for cloud. All other characters have special commands like barret's charge. Dunno about the other characters.
