The story of Silent Hill f is centered around the main character, Shimizu Hinako. The game explores her personality and interactions with other characters, as well as her struggles surrounding her circumstances, trauma, and resistance towards society's expectations.
Throughout the game, she encounters monsters present in Ebisugaoka and the Dark Shrine. These monsters are often reminiscent of dolls, or caricatures of aspects of womanhood and marriage as seen by Hinako in their respective Journal entries.

Themes surrounding womanhood and marriage are constantly implicated throughout the game. Hinako is presented to rebel against the stereotypes of women, Junko is depicted as the perfect bride and woman, Fox Mask displays the delusions of men towards women, while Hinako's parents show how women are treated as a commodity in society.
The theme grows more explicit as the game progresses through character interactions, bosses, and the monsters present, further expanded on the different endings.
Ending Guides and Explanations
In the true ending, Kyubi reveals that humanity births a child blessed by divine power (Hinako) once in a blue moon, to be sought out by their clan's heir (Fox Mask) to take as their wife.

The Divine Tree that was once worshipped by the shrine led by Sakuko's family is where the Sacred Sword is found. The sword is said to be the owned by the deceased leader of the Taira clan, who vowed to take revenge against the Minamoto clan.
This explains the animosity corrupting the Sacred Sword, and why it needs to be purified.

The Kyubi and Tsukumogami are the two Gods present in Ebisugaoka, feuding for eons as stated in the true ending. Tsukumogami harbors rage towards Kyubi, only for them to disregard their spite.
The Sennensugi Shrine's journal entry states that it once worshipped the thousand-year cedar as a divine vessel until lightning struck the tree. This led the shrine to worship the “next oldest thing” in Ebisugaoka, the Inari Shrine. Sakuko confirms in the Forgotten Shrine journal entry it is the original Sennensugi Shrine while depicting the Divine Tree.
This led to the Tsukumogami Faith fusing with the Inari Faith, likely causing the friction between the two Gods.
