1. Find a Way Out

Upon waking up in the Dark Shrine, approach the dimly lit Altar and place each item on the offering plates onto a pedestal that matches their corresponding symbol. Once done, a cutscene will play, surrounding the area with thick fog that urges Hinako to get out. Note that the puzzle solution changes depending on your puzzle difficulty.
2. Follow Fox Mask
After leaving the Grand Hall, follow the mysterious entity Fox Mask as he guides you through the paths with his blue lantern. Along the way, you'll pass by a hall of strung emas, and a small shrine with a ritual dagger on it called the Kaiken. At the end of your trail, you'll be faced with a locked Shrine Vault that needs to be opened in order to continue.
3. Look For Any Hints
Take the path leading back to the small shrine with the Kaiken that you passed by earlier on, to see a calcified doll resting on one of its pillars with a note. This will serve as your clue to unlocking the Shrine Vault's lock.
Afterwards, a Shackled Monster will show itself and begin attacking you. Wield the dagger and defend yourself against it. Its only attack pattern is raising its hands above its head before striking down at you, giving you an opening to counter or dodge.

Follow the clues collected and locate the emas with the correct illustrations corresponding to your game's puzzle difficulty.
These can be found hanging in the southern and southwestern sections of the Shrine Path. Each time you flip over the correct ema, Hinako will automatically record the finding in her journal for later review.
5. Open the Shrine Vault and Obtain the Key
After determining the correct emas, make your way back to the Shrine Vault and turn the dials on the lock to display the correct symbols you've gathered in the journal from top to bottom. This should open the lock and grant you access inside, where you can retrieve the Stone Key.
6. Head to the Door With the Inari Statues
Exit the Shrine Vault to find the exterior path now crowded with Shackled Monsters. Navigate your way through them and defeat them if you must, though there is no shame in simply dodging your way through and evading all of them.
Proceed to the Inari statues, where a cutscene shows Hinako placing the stone key to dispel the red smoke. Urged on by the Fox Mask, she shuts the shrine doors but is struck by a malevolent force that knocks her out and sends her back to Ebisugaoka.
