Ara-abare is the first boss encounter in Silent Hill f, fought in Chapter 3. See how to beat the Ara-abare, as well as its attacks and more details about it in this guide!
We've considered the Ara-abare the first boss as the encounter is structured similarly to a boss fight. To see the Formidable Foe who officially acts as Silent Hill f's first boss, check out our guide on the Sakuko-like Entity.
Sakuko-Like Entity Boss Fight Guide
When fighting the Ara-abare, your main objective should be to pull this first boss away from the well. Bait it away from the point of interest so you can interact with it safely.
Once you've lured away the Ara-abare, run to the well to interact with it and pull up the key that you need. Keep vision on the boss so you know when you can retreat if its moving in to attack.
When the Ara-abare uses its scream to stun Hinako, be sure to move as soon as it wears off as the boss is likely to follow-up with another attack in an attempt to hit you while you're immobile.
Similarly, if you get hit by its grab attack, be sure to move away as soon as Hinako gets up as it will try to land a hit on you while you are down.
If you go to attack the boss, aim to land your attacks away from the blade, as your weapon will bounce off the metal blade and deal no damage. Note that you do not need to defeat it to crank the well, but doing so will let you freely interact with the well.
The Ara-abare bellows, temporarily stunning Hinako in place.
The Ara-abare throws its lasher behind it before swinging it forward for a grab. It will follow-up with an overhead strike if it catches Hinako.
The Ara-abare winds up for an overhead slam with its knife, its momentum keeping it running forwards for a bit and extending the atttack.
The Ara-abare whips around, hitting whatever is close by with its swinging appendages.
A fast swiping attack with the Ara-abare's blade.

You encounter the Ara-abare as the first boss in the third chapter of the game, back in Ebisugaoka after you escape the Dark Shrine.

Another Ara-abare can be found at the Ebisugaoka Middle School, in the large gardening area.

A giant, repulsive lump of flesh that is filled to the brim with a maniacal anger. It howls awfully as it swings its large knife in any which direction. Its unfettered anger is no different from that of a wild animal... No. It's far worse than that. |
