Use the map often to avoid getting lost in the game, both in directions and in story progression. The map marks the locations of points of interest, such as puzzle objectives and Hokora Shrines, as well as blocked paths.

It is highly recommended to conserve weapon durability as weapons and toolkits are scarce in the game. Players may find themselves lacking a weapon in crucial fights if they try to fight all enemies they encounter, as weapon replacements aren't common and toolkits are rare even at the Story Mode difficulty.
If a fight is optional, focus on fleeing instead. Refrain from attacking with your weapon and attempt to escape if the situation allows it.

Hokora Shrines are the save points of Silent Hill f. Locate these shrines as these can be used as checkpoints to save their progress, restore health and sanity, enshrine offerings for additional Faith, draw Omamori, and Pray to increase stats.
All Hokora Shrine Locations: How to Save

Offerings collected during exploration should be offered to Hokora Shrines as soon as possible. These are the primary source of Faith in the game, and holding on to them will consume inventory space.
It is best to enshrine these Offerings as soon as possible for extra Faith and to vacate inventory space for additional storage for consumables.
All Offering Locations and Effects
Contrary to previous titles, Silent Hill f has a melee-focused combat with a clear lack of firearms. This makes studying enemy patterns critical to survival, as enemies can punish when making a blunder in dodges or attacks.
When encountering an enemy for the first time, remain cautious and study their attacks and learn the windows of opportunity to attack. Note when enemies blur for a moment, as this is where a counter can be performed to stagger the enemy.
Interact with prompts that appear and examine all objects whenever possible, as these often contain hints for puzzles or useful items such as bandages. Keep an eye out when exploring as well, as some prompts may be hidden in containers or ledges as pickups.

Refrain from spamming dodge as these can unnecessarily drain stamina in battle. Instead, time dodges to perform a perfect dodge; perfect dodges restore stamina when successful, which players can use to conduct more attacks.
