RPG MAKER WITH has simplified the creation of items and equipment that you can strategically place in your game. By having control over item effects and usage, you can create unique items that allow for a more engaging gameplay experience.
To start creating items, press the ZL Button and select Go to Database. In this guide, we will create a Magic Potion that will recover MP.
1 | From the Database Edit screen choose Items. A list of Items will show. There are already default items such as Potion, Elixir, and HP Increase that can be readily used in your game. |
---|---|
2 | Select + and modify the total number of items to be added inside the list. Once done, select an empty number and go to Basic Settings. |
3 | The Basic Settings offers customizable options for the Item's name, Icon, Description, Item Type, Price, determine if the item is a Consumable, adjust its target Range and set the Occasion in which the item can be used. |
4 | For this example, we set the Magic Potion to Recover 50 MP, set as a Regular Item Type, Priced at 500G, a Consumable that targets 1 Ally who is Alive, and can be used Always. |
5 | Next, go to Activate. In this tab you can set the Correct Speed, Success Rate, how many times the item effect repeats, TP Gain, Hit Type and select an Animation for the item. In this example, we set the Success Rate to 100% which can only be used once with Certain Hit, and selected "0042 Heal One 2" for the Animation. |
6 | The Damage tab shows customization options for creating an item that does damage such as a Fire Bomb. In this tab, you can set the damage Type, Element, Formula, Variance, and Critical Hits. We'll leave this blank since we're creating a Magic Potion. |
7 | Now, go to Effects. In this tab you can customize an item's effect including Recovery for HP, MP, and TP Gain, set the States such as Poison or Paralysis, Parameters for buffs and debuffs, and other special effects in the "Other" section. After setting an item's effect, select OK. |
8 | Voila! We have now created a Magic Potion that can recover 50MP. |
Determine if the item is for healing, boosting stats, or to be used in maps such as repel. Each item should have a clear role to help guide gameplay balance.
Place certain items in shops based on location or storyline progression. This keeps powerful items from being available too early in the game.
