How to Use Shortcut Keys

Press the ZL Button and Right Analog Stick, D-Pad or L/R Buttons

Using shortcuts in RPG MAKER WITH can make it easier to move around the screen and speed up tasks like copying and pasting tiles and Events or fixing mistakes on the Map. Because the Nintendo Switch doesn't have a keyboard, learning these shortcuts is important if you want to develop your game quickly.

Shortcut Keys for Switching Between Menu Screens

Shortcut Key Function
ZL + Up (Right Analog) Go to Event Editor
ZL + Down (Right Analog) Go to Database
ZL + Left (Right Analog) Go to Map List
ZL + Right (Right Analog) Go to Map Editor

Map Editor Screen Shortcuts

Shortcut Key Function
ZL + X Copy. This will allow you to copy a Tile including any layers or overlapping objects inside it.
ZL + A Paste. This will allow you to paste a Tile after copying it.
ZL + ZR Switch Drawing Tools. Switch between Pencil, Rectangle, Ellipse, Flood Fill, and Shadow Pen.
ZL + R Button Undo. Reverses the last action performed.
ZL + L Button Redo. Reapplies the last action that you undid.
ZL + Left (D-Pad) Moves 1 Map Layer above.
ZL + Right (D-Pad) Moves 1 Map Layer below.
ZL + Up (D-Pad) Zoom In. Maximum zoom in is 200%.
ZL + Down (D-Pad) Zoom Out. Maximum zoom out is 50%.

Event Editor Screen Shortcuts

Shortcut Key Function
ZL + X Copy. This will allow you to copy a Tile including all Events, Images, and Sprites inside the tile.
ZL + A Paste. This will allow you to paste the Event Tile. Use this function to mass produce Events such as Treasure Chests or Move Events.
ZL + Y Cut. Removes the selected Tile Event from its original location. After using cut, select Paste to move an Event to another location.
ZL + B Remove. This will delete the Event Tile completely.
ZL + R Undo. Reverses the last action performed.
ZL + L Redo. Reapplies the last action that you undid.
ZL + Up (D-Pad) Zoom In. Maximum zoom in is 200%.
ZL + Down (D-Pad) Zoom Out. Maximum zoom out is 50%.
