The "Damage Formula" is useful when you want to edit the damage caused by an existing Skill or create an entirely new one. For instance, you can use the Damage Formula to tweak the damage of an Ice Breath Skill to your liking. If you find a Skill too weak or powerful, you can use a new Damage Formula to change it.
1 | To set Damage Formula, press the ZL Button and select "Go to Database." |
---|---|
2 | Move your cursor to "Skills" and select a specific Skill you want to apply a Damage Formula to. |
3 | Move your cursor to "Damage" and select "Formula." |
4 | Press the A Button and select "Easy" to automatically use a Formula. |
5 | Since the selected Skill is a physical attack, the applicable Formula is "Attack Enemy." |
6 | Press the A Button and the calculation will appear. |
7 | Once done, press the X Button and select OK. |
You can also edit your damage formula. Using this example, the Formula is OwnAttack*4-Enemy'sDefense*2. So if your character attacks and has 170 ATK, he will deal 270 damage because the enemy's DEF was 205. That's 170 multiplied by 4 minus 205 DEF multiplied by 2 or 680 - 410 = 270.
You can use the "Basic Parameters," "Applied Parameters," and "Other" to modify a formula or create a new one.
Checking the damage calculation of existing Skills can help familiarize you with how they are set up. If you're new to making damage calculations, you can copy their formulas first to get a feel for how the system works and edit them according to your needs.
For example, you want to make an Ice Breath Skill, but you don't know what kind of formula should be used. You can look up an existing Fire Breath Skill and copy its formula (30 + a.atk*2) for your Ice Breath Skill. Later on, you can make your own Skills once you get a better understanding of how to edit and create them.
