D-1 Cold Case Gems and Boo Location Guide

This is a walkthrough for all gems in D1 Cold Case, as well as how to clear the level and find the boo in Luigi's Mansion 2 HD for the Nintendo Switch. Read on for a detailed guide for D-1 Cold Case, including how to get 3 stars, gem locations, location of the boo, as well as the secret door location.

D-1 Cold Case Objectives

Goal	The Toad assistant assigned to the Secret Mine is not answering E. Gadd's calls. Find him, and bring him back using the Pixelator Screen in the Chalet. Find the elevator to the Chalet, and use the Pixelator Screen there to send the Toad back to the Bunker.
Description	Some determined geologists started a mining operation in these snowcapped mountains. But when ghosts started moving in, they got scared and abandoned it!

Meet with Toad in the Chalet

Upon arriving in the Secret Mines, follow the path leading to the big log cabin known as the Chalet. You can use the Poltergust to remove all the snow that is blocking the way and peek through the window to see the ghosts inside.

Inside the Chalet, defeat all the ghosts to unlock the door that leads to the next room, which is the Smokehouse. In the Smokehouse, interact with the furnace and then defeat the ghost that comes out of it.

You can then use the flaming rocks coming out of the furnace to melt the ice that is blocking the door, which leads to Ice Lake. Once out in the Ice Lake, head towards the east to find a small shed and use the Dark-Light Device to reveal a door.

Obtaining all the spirit balls reveals the door leading to Fishing Hut. Upon entering Fishing Hut, use the Poltergust to remove all the snow on the ground, and use the Dark-Light Device on the north wall to reveal a hidden painting.

After successfully revealing the painting, use the Dark-Light Device again on the painting to let the missing Toad out of it.

Send the Toad to the Bunker

After the cutscene where Luigi and the missing Toad falls down Under the Ice, go the southwest corner of the room, go up to the upper floor by stepping on the hole that is blowing a powerful air, and head towards to the door on the left.

The door leads to Terminal, and once inside, go towards the west most door, which leads you to Airway. Once out in Airway, use the Poltergust to shoot the Toad on the weighted lift on the north wall to get the key beneath all the snow.

After collecting the Key, go back inside Terminal, locate the sheet covering a big mirror on the north wall, and then go towards the door opposite the mirror. Use the Poltergust to pull the sheet, which is located in the east side.

The door opposite the mirror leads to Prospector's Crossing, and once inside, go towards the door on the south, which leads out to Drift Hall. Out in Drift Hall, go over to the east side and open the chest to get a Key.

Once you get a Key, go down to the west side, and then use it on the door, which leads into Basin. Upon entering Basin, defeat all the enemies, and then go towards the door in the northwest corner, which leads to Airway.

Out in the Airway, pull the rope on the left side of the rope bridge, go across the bridge, and then pull the rope on the right side of the bridge to fix the rope bridge. Then hop on the elevator that will take you back up to Chalet.

Upon getting back up in Chalet, use the monitor in the east side of the room to transport the missing Toad.

Gem #1 (Circle Sapphire)

Where to Find	Smokehouse

Head into the Smokehouse, defeat all the enemies inside, use the Dark-Light Device to reveal a coat hanging on the north wall by the door, pull it down, and a Circle Sapphire will drop.

Gem #2 (Triangle Sapphire)

Where to Find	Fishing Hut

Head towards the Fishing Hut after the cutscene with the Boo, suck up the snow by the entrance on the left, and you will obtain a Triangle Sapphire.

Gem #3 (Rectangle Sapphire)

Where to Find	Under the Ice

After the cutscene with the Toad, go to the upper floor of Under the Ice with the Toad, shoot the Toad towards the hole in the north wall, and Toad will slide down the lower floor with the Rectangle Sapphire.

Where to Find	High Wires

Head to the High Wires, use the Poltergust to swing onto the platform with a nest on the west wall, use the Strobulb to scare the birds, and use the Poltergust again to suck the Football Sapphire.

Gem #5 (Drop Sapphire)

Where to Find	Airway

Head to the Airway via the Terminal and use the telescope to see that the gem was dropped into a barrel by a bat. Head to the Airway via the Basin, go across the rope bridge, and interact with the barrel on the other side to obtain the Drop Sapphire.

Enter the terminal, pull down the sheet on the east side to reveal a huge mirror, and use the Dark-Light Device on the barrel opposite to the mirror. Suck up all the spirit balls to reveal the Boo.

Location	How to Find the Secret Door
Drift Hall	Vacuum the knoted fuse at the base of the spool and drag it up the steps. Use the lantern mounted on the north wall to ignite the fuse, then wait for the explosives to detonate. Afterwards, go west to find the exposed diving bell.

How to Beat the Challenge

Vacuum pieces of coal and aim it at one of the slots on the snowman's face until all of them are occupied.
