New Features in Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD

Map Placement Changes

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD - Map Placement

The map is now placed on the upper right corner of the screen in the Switch version, compared to the Nintendo 3DS version, which was on the 2nd screen or the bottom screen.

Dark-Light Device Meter

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD - Dark-Light Device Meter

The Dark-Light Device meter is now placed above of Luigi’s head instead of it showing on the upper right corner of the screen when you use it.

Updated Controls

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD - Vacuum Up Money

Since Nintendo Switch controllers have more buttons and a right analog stick, the controls have been updated slightly. All of the old controls still work, though the vacuum controls have been moved from R and L to ZR and ZL.

The right stick can now also be used to aim the Poltergust, but the X and B buttons can still be used to look up and down respectively.

The remake version of the game for the Nintendo Switch has enhanced graphic changes, darker but dramatic lighting, and brand new shaders and colors to make the gameplay evens smoother than before.

Minor Text and Name Adjustments

Ooga Booga is now Boothoven

Original Remake

Some enemies have been renamed in this remake, borrowing from recent Luigi's Mansion titles. One notable example is the Boo you encounter in one of the missions in the Gloomy Manor. Ooga Booga is now renamed Boothoven, a pun on Beethoven, because it hides in a piano.

Game Over is Now Good Night in ScareScraper

Original Remake

There is no more "Game Over" message in any game mode in Luigi's Mansion 2 HD. When you fail to complete a ScareScraper, you will get a Good Night message instead, similar to what happens when Luigi loses all his health in the story mode.
