You can beat ScareScraper solo in Normal difficulty in Luigi's Mansion 3 HD. Read on for more details on how to play and beat ScareScraper solo!
List of Contents
You can beat a ScareScraper run in Normal difficulty if you are playing alone. The Normal difficulty is designed to be playable by either only one person or a group of Luigis.
If you want to capture all ScareScraper-exclusive ghosts for your Vault collection, you can start a Normal difficulty run and just get all the ghosts that you'll encounter.
You can also beat a 25-floor ScareScraper run in Normal difficulty. You may have a difficult time on the later floors once you encounter tougher ghosts, but you can collect all the loot that you can per floor to easily get equipment upgrades that are effective even against tougher enemies.
Multiplayer Guide: How to Play ScareScraper
You can also choose to play in Hard and Expert difficulties in ScareScraper, although completing it will be very difficult.
Hard and Expert difficulties are designed for multiple players actively working together, not just one person. Ghosts are also tougher in these difficulties and may need to be fought by more than one player, which can prove to be too hard for a solo player.
ScareScraper Difficulty Differences
You can start a solo ScareScraper run via Local Play and start the game even if you are the only one in the lobby.
This will adjust the run to be for one player only, which has a couple of differences compared to multiplayer runs.
The Red Coin Bonus works differently in both solo and multiplayer ScareScraper runs.
In solo, a player will get a random power-up after getting all four red coins during the Red Coin Scramble, which happens after clearing a floor.
In multiplayer, a roulette will determine which random power-up will be given to a random player. All Luigis will have a 1/4 chance of getting the power-up if they all get one red coin each, but a player can increase their chance if they get more than one red coin as they will have more slots in the roulette.
If you are playing ScareScraper alone, you will not encounter any traps while you explore the building's floors.
In multiplayer, these traps are present and are meant to hinder the group of Luigis from completing their objectives.
Trap | Effect |
---|---|
Carpet | ・Luigi can get trapped after stepping on a carpet ・Another Luigi must use the Poltergust's A-Pull to pull the tassel to free the trapped player |
Vase | ・Luigi can get stuck after checking out a wobbly vase ・Another Luigi must use the Poltergust's A-Pull to pull the cord to free the trapped player |
Curse | ・Luigi can get cursed while searching objects, which reverses the player's controls ・Another Luigi must flash the Dark-Light Device on the cursed Luigi to get rid of the curse |
All Traps and Curses and How to Remove Them
In multiplayer sessions, any Luigi that is knocked out can be revived by another player. It is possible to keep a run going as long as not all Luigis in the session are knocked out, as this will end the run.
This is not doable in solo sessions, as Luigi will be all alone without any extra lives. This means that the run will end if Luigi gets knocked out, if you are doing a solo run.
