An immensely prideful man, Rufus has a strong rebellious streak and will choose to instead ignore the orders of the president, his father. Despite being the second-highest executive, Rufus prefers the heat of battle, entering the battlefield armed with a custom-made shotgun and Darkstar, a military canine. Rufus Shinra is the current vice president of the Shinra Electric Power Company, likely gaining the title because he is President Shinra's son. Rufus' rebellious streak stems from the fact that he has little to no love for his father, and is constantly devising schemes to overthrow him. Like President Shinra, his main goals are world domination through the use of the Shinra Company and the expansion of the company's power.
He mainly uses fear to make people do his will, usually feeding on their suspicions against AVALANCHE and Sephiroth to contol them.
In Final Fantasy VII Remake, Rufus' design is updated and many new elements are added to his suit. In the original, he is portrayed as wearing a white business suit, complete with a matching jacket worn over a simple black shirt. In the Remake, a tie is added, and there are belts on his wrists and waist. Several of these hang loosely over his long skirt.
