How to Parry

Hold L1 to Block and Parry Attacks

Holding L1 will bring EVE to her guarding stance. When enemies attack, EVE will automatically deflect the enemy attacks and parry them. This will deflect the majority of damage you'll take from the enemy attack.

Time your Block Against Enemy Attacks

The Perfect Parry is part of EVE's Skill Tree and is unlocked from the start. Performed a Perfect Parry by pressing the the Block Button (L1) right before getting hit by an attack.

A Perfect Parry negates any damage from the hit, replenishes Beta Energy, and may cause the enemy to lose balance.

Perform Retributions Against Enemies That Deplete Their Balance

Reducing an enemy's Balance to zero by performing Perfect Parries stuns them momentarily and allows you to perform a Retribution attack to deal massive damage.

Parrying Tips

Tap and Hold L1

Most players just tap L1 to time their parries against enemy attacks and while this may be more comfortable to some players, we highly recommend holding the L1 button after a parry attempt.

This will allow you to block the attack and take reduced damage in case of a failed parry timing. This method is also much safer and gives you time to analyze the enemy attack pattern and try a different timing on the next attack.

All Skills That Affect Perfect Parry

Stellar Blade - Upgrade Perfect Parry at Camps

Upgrades for the Perfect Parry are available in the Skill Kiosks found in camps.

These upgrades vary from improving the timing window to extra moves you can perform after a successful Perfect Parry.

All Perfect Parry Upgrades

Skill Name SP Cost Effect
Focus Boost 2 Increases the Perfect Parry Window.
Beta Energy Recharge I 1 Increases the amount of Beta Energy recharged with a successful Perfect Parry.
Beta Energy Recharge II 2 More Effective than Beta Energy Recharge I.
Counter I 1 A Combo Attack Skill that can be used after a successful Perfect Parry.
Counter Chain I TBD A Combo Attack Skill that can be used after using Counter I
Counter II 1 A Combo Attack Skill that can be used after a successful Perfect Parry. Also temporarily increases Attack Power.
Counter Chain II TBD A Combo Attack Skill that can be used after using Counter II

The most valuable upgrade to get early is Focus Boost, as it increases the parry window, allowing more lenient timing in parrying.

Afterward, getting Counter Chain II is the next priority, as it's a powerful move you can perform each time you parry.

However, Beta Energy Recharge would be a better choice if you prefer using Beta Skills.
