One of the Repair Console's functionality is to upgrade the drone. If you have the necessary drone upgrade module, interact with the repair console on supply camps to upgrade your drone and gain new drone abilities!
An alternative option is to talk to Lily on the Tetrapod's area. Lily can also access the Repair Console's features which allows Eve to upgrade the drone provided that she has the necessary drone upgrade modules in hand for the upgrades you wish to have.
The first Drone Upgrade we highly recommend is getting the hacking upgrade. This will allow you to unlock any chest that requires the hacking upgrade immediately. This also unlocks the scan upgrades further down the Drone's upgrade tree which greatly helps with exploration.
Cans are one of the main collectibles in the game and maxing out the left-most drone upgrade tree will unlock the ability to scan cans. Make sure to get this upgrade if you're aiming for a completionist run or wish to get all the cans in the game.
After getting the Hacking Upgrade (or the can upgrade depending on your priority), the next best upgrade is Enhanced Slugs.
This will increase your normal ammo's damage which is the ammo type you'll use for the majority of the time you'll be using the drone as a gun. Not only that, this also unlocks two more ammo type down its upgrade tree which are the Shotgun Shell and Explosive Shell.
Unlike skills that can be reset using an SP initializer, Drone upgrades cannot be reset. Make sure to plan out properly if you want to upgrade the drone as the resets cannot be undone. This is another good reason to prioritize upgrading the scan feature as it's one of the drone's feature you'll access most of the time.
To upgrade your drone, you'll first have to complete the game's 2nd main missoin “Scavenger Adam”. Once you complete the said main mission, you'll reach Xion city and after the events and gaining access to free roam, talk to Lily and Adam back at the Tetrapod to gain access to the drone upgrade feature.
