Niche Exospines that are useful in particular moments are ranked lower than Exospines that perform well in various situations and points in the game.

The Reflex-Type Exospine, for example, exceeds as both a defensive and offensive Exospine in most enemy encounters since Guarding and Dodging are fundamental mechanics in Stellar Blade.

Stellar Blade - Reflex-Type Exospine

★★★
Exospine specialized in guard and dodge
・Shield regenerates faster when using Guard
・Makes it easier to use Perfect Dodge
・Makes it easier to use Perfect Parry
How to Get:
Video Link | In a crate within a destroyed tram in Matrix 11.

The Reflex-Type Exospine is the best offensive and defensive Exospine to use against bosses due to the increased damage uptime you get by making counterattacks from Perfect Dodging and Perfect Parrying.

More Perfect Parries and Dodges allow your Beta and Burst energy to recharge fast during fights and will enable the use of powerful skills.

However, it may be the hardest Exospine to play with since it requires Perfect Dodging and Parrying.

Beta and Burst Trance: Best for Damage

This Exospine, however, is less reliable due to the slower recharge rate of Tachy Energy.

The Recover-Type Exospines is the better defensive Exospine out of the two available. It makes your heals more effective, provides a damage reduction buff, and, more importantly, recovers Beta Energy.

Stellar Blade - Impact-Type Exospine
Impact-Type Exospine

★★★
Exospine specialized in combat against multiple enemies

・Unstable energy deals more chained Damage.
How to Get:
Found in an area with dead legionnaires between the Hidden Path and Central Scrap Points camps in the Wasteland.

The main purpose of the Imapct-Type Exospine is to deal with multiple enemies at once. This, however, requires you to spec into Crit Chance for a reliable proc rate, and even with that, it does not deal a good amount of damage.

The best way to deal with multi mobs is to deal burst damage and kill one as fast as possible to lessen the numbers or to use the charged Slash Beta Skill.

Grenadier: Trap Exospine

Exospine Stats and Effects

・Combat Consumables deal increased Damage and have a greater Effect upon hitting enemies from behind.
How to Get:
Video Link | Found in a crate outside the room with the Floodgate control device in the Flooded Commercial Plaza.

The biggest downside for this Exospine is the limited amount of Usable Items you have and having to spend Gold to buy back more of them.

Another big downside is that bosses are not affected by the effect increase from the Lv. 1 effect.

Chain-Type Exospine

Stellar Blade - Camouflage-Type Exospine
Camouflage-Type Exospine

This is our recommended combo for normal exploration with a balance of defensive and offensive Exospines.

Stellar Blade - Beta Trance-Type Exospine
Beta Trance-Type Exospine

For boss fights, we recommend always bringing the Reflex-Type Exospine, as Perfect Dodges and Parries are necessary to deal counterattacks to fast enemy bosses.

Then, for the second slot, bring your preferred offensive Exospine. Though we recommend the Beta Trance-Type, the Burst Trance-Type is also a good choice.

Ranged Only

Ranged Only Combo
Stellar Blade - Eagle Eye-Type Exospine
Eagle Eye-Type Exospine
Stellar Blade - Protection-Type Exospine
Protection-Type Exospine

In areas where your sword is unavailable, such as Altess Levoire and Abyss Levoire, we recommend this combo of Exospines.

Outside of these areas, sword combat is a superior option.
