Gear That Require Extreme Setups are Ranked Lower

Gear such as the Speed Increase Gear offers extremely minimal value unless multiple high level copies of the gear are stacked up. Gear like these are ranked lower due to unusability in most cases and can easily be replaced by other gear that can provide more value for less investment.

Gear Utilizing Optimal Play and Skill Usage Ranks Higher

Optimal play includes maximizing parries and dodge windows as well as ideal skill (both burst and beta) usage is considered. Each Skill has their own usage and being able to capitalize on the game's defensive mechanics will also allow you to build up gauges to use said skills which is why shield destruction, beta enhancement gear, and gear that rewards high-risk playstyle are ranked higher.

Perfect Combat Gear

Gear How to Get
Stellar Blade - Perfect Combat Gear
Perfect Combat Gear
★☆☆: Wastelands
Drops from defeating Brute
★★☆: Xion
Purchase from Kaya's shop in Xion
★★★: Xion
There will be a supply box inside the facility where you stopped the water from the dam. Inside it is the gear.

Essential Gear to have especially when you're able to parry most enemy attacks with ease. Also always consider keeping your HP at max with potions and the Combat Supply gear to keep this gear active at all times.

Double Edged Gear

While this gear does increase the damage you take, the amount of damage it also provides is so massive that other gear cannot compare to it. This can allow you to quickly dispatch weaker naytibas with little to no difficulty while also having high enough damage against Elite and Alpha Naytibas.

And if you consider the increased damage taken, most of the time, you'll die if you mess up the parry or dodge timing against bosses late in the game which doesn't really make its down side that bad in comparison to the benefits it gives.

★★★: Matrix 11
Talk to D1G-g2r after returning from Eidos 4. Clear all of D1G-g2r side quests first.

Beta Skills provide insane damage output that further increasing it will mean complete obliteration to your enemies and this gear exactly does just that.

Shield Destruction Gear

★★☆: Matrix 11
After defeating Juggernaut and approaching the submerged area, you will find a container down the hill near the camp. This contains the gear.
★★★: Matrix 11
Drops from defeating Belial in

Shields allow bosses to keep their HP up due to the damage reduction their shield provides. Shield Destruction Gear allows you to deplete their shields much faster which effectively makes you deal more damage to them in the long run. Always consider using this with the Shield Breaker skill to quickly deplete the enemy's shield bar.

Speed Increase Gear

★☆☆: Eidos 7

★★☆: Matrix 11
Along the railroad tracks behind the Hive, there is a container here. Inside it is the gear.
★★★: Matrix 11
Drops from defeating Unidentified Naytiba

The Attack Speed stat gives a noticeable difference to how fast you can hit with every strike. This would allow you to deal more hits during the short windows of opportunity that appear in a fight.

Note that attack speed caps at 160%.

Burst Charge Gear

★★☆: Xion

★★☆: Great Desert
Destroy the wooden boxes by detonating the bombs, after doing so there will be a container with the gear inside.
★★★: Great Desert
Drops from defeating Unidentified Naytiba

Fixed Damage Gear is a great gear but its effects being locked behind being able to complete Level 2 combos makes it difficult to rank it any higher. A good DPS setup especially if you'll couple it with a few attack speed gear.

Melee Protection Gear and Protection Gear

★★☆: Xion
Purchase from Kaya's shop in Xion
★★★: Xion
Talk to Su after returning from Eidos 4. Clear all of Su and Enya's side quests first.

While these two protection gears are great, they're an option to consider only if you're having difficulty deflecting or dodging enemy attacks and there are setups that can allow you to get better value from using the said techniques. However, if you are taking too much damage or are trying to get more time to survive a boss to study their movesets, these gear are great options to consider equipping.

Critical Gear: A Suboptimal DPS Choice

Gear How to Get
Stellar Blade - Crit Boost Gear
Crit Boost Gear
★☆☆: Eidos 7

★★☆: Abyss Levoire

★★★: Abyss Levoire

While critical strikes are great when they do activate but while critical strikes are not working, this also means you essentially have no gear equipped on these slots. Having a consistent DPS buff such as Double Edged Gear and and Perfect Combat Gear active will easily outclass the damage these Gear can provide while not being at the mercy of random critical strike chances.

Burst Expansion Gear

Gear How to Get
Stellar Blade - Burst Expansion Gear
Burst Expansion Gear

★★☆: Matrix 11
Defeat Tachy in Alpha Signal.
★★★: Matrix 11
Defeat Raven ithe Wasteland

Borderline C tier gear. Burst Energy is already difficult to build up due to its requirement being a perfect dodge which you can't easily use consecutively and this gear even adds a higher limit to the burst energy gauge you have. While it's great if you like to stock up on Burst Energy, it's a very sub optimal choice compared to just enhancing your burst energy recharge to allow you to use more burst skills during a single fight.

Training Gear

Training Gear

★★☆: Xion
Purchase from Kaya's shop in Xion
★★★: Xion
Somewhere south of the Great Desert, a rocky area can be found. You can also find container here with the gear inside.

The more usable farming gear. It does provide more SP when equipped but most skills you'll need can easily be obtained by just naturally progressing the game. It's a great gear to have if you're intent on farming SP by defeating enemies but otherwise, a bad gear to have.

Beta and Burst Recovery Gear

★☆☆: Wastelands
Defeat Corrupter in Wastelands
★★☆: Xion

★★★: Xion
After entering Space Logistics Complex, turn left to find a container near the crane. This contains the gear.
Stellar Blade - Burst Recovery Gear
Burst Recovery Gear
★☆☆: Great Desert
Defeat the Stalker in the Great Desert.
★★☆: Eidos 9
Defeat the Corrupter in Eidos 9.
★★★: Eidos 9
Defeat the Democrawler in Spire 4

These Gear allow you to recharge your Burst and Beta energy at the cost of taking damage. Taking Damage highly unrecommended, especially against boss fights as not only does it reduce your HP, it also decreases your barrier which makes you susceptible to higher damage the longer the fight goes on. Having a gear that only works upon being hit by enemy attacks makes these gear almost unusable.

Risk Taking Gear

★★☆: Xion
Purchase from Kaya's shop in Xion
★★★: Xion
When the elevator stops and you continue to proceed by jumping on bars, there will be a container here with the gear inside.

The least appealing gear option among all damage-enhancing gear. It provides a higher damage bonus than perfect combat gear but if you get hit, the game's immediately over. The value it provides over the disadvantage it requires is too great and the fact that you have to lower your HP means you'll have to take damage first in order for the gear to work.

Gold Gear

★★☆: Xion
Purchase from Kaya's shop in Xion
★★★: Xion
Complete the Great Desert puzzle where you put objects in 3 areas so the weight matches the displayed weight. After doing so, a path will open and inside it is the container with the gear.

Gold automatically comes to EVE in the form of missions and requests. You'll also obtain a plethora of gold from defeating enemies and the only way to use these mainly is to purchase a new set of bullets which you won't be using for the majority of the game.

Shield Penetration Gear

Shield Penetration Gear
★☆☆: Altess Levoire
Drops from Defeating Maelstrom in Altess Levoire
★★☆: Xion
Purchase from Kaya's shop in Xion
★★★: Xion
Drops from defeating Raven

Shield Penetration allows you to deal more damage to enemies with shields. This gear only gimps your character when you can instead, slot in a shield destruction gear and obliterate the enemy shield with one fully charged Shield Breaker beta skill. A nearly useless gear and is easily outclassed by other gear choices.

Combat Continuation Gear

Gear How to Get
Stellar Blade - Combat Continuation Gear

★☆☆: Wastelands
Drops from defeating Gigas in Wastelands
★★☆: Great Desert
Drops from defeating Abbadon
★★★: Great Desert
Defeat Corrupter before heading into Secret Garden. There will be a container nearby, inside is the gear.

This gear can only work by defeating enemies and it provides additional dps for a few seconds. The only time you'll require to fight multiple enemies are in the overworld and these are enemies that have low HP. The damage bonus you'll get during these scenario is unlikely needed which makes this gear one of our lowest ranked gear.

An alternative optoin to the Beta setup. If you would rather rely on using Burst Skill then this is the ideal setup. This setup maximizes the Burst energy gain from dodging and/or blink and filling your burst gauge for more burst skill usage.

MK 2 Gear Will be Available in NG+

Stellar Blade - Mk. 2 Exospines in NG+.png

Aside from the gear list mentioned above, MK 2 variants of gear will also be available in NG+. This means you can potentially stack up 4 types of the same gear in NG+ such as four attack speed gear or 4 beta Enhancement gear.
