How to Unlock A Better Auto Crossbow

Location Hammerhead
Unlock Condition Obtain Auto Crossbow, and complete "Cid Sophiar, Master Mechanic" sidequest.

A Better Auto Crossbow Clear Conditions and Rewards

Clear Condition Collect a Cactuar Needle and deliver it to Cid to upgrade the weapon.
Reward 2,000 EXP

How to Complete A Better Auto Crossbow

Talk to Cid

Speak with Cid to begin this sidequest. He will help you upgrade your weapon, but you need to find the item that he is asking.

Find the Cactuar Needle

To complete this sidequest, you will need a Cactuar Needle. There are two ways to get it; first is to defeat a Slactuar, and the second is to locate the exact area where you can find it.

Find the Cactuar Needle

To locate the Cactuar Needle, go to the Treasure Spot near the crossroads (Green and Orange road on the map) of Risorath Basin and The Vesperpool. Go over the highway’s fence and look for a shimmering red on the top of a big rock. Once found, pick it up to obtain a Cactuar Needle.

Upgrade to Auto Crossbow Plus

Talk to Cid by returning to Hammerhead. Hand over the Cactuar Needle to upgrade the Auto Crossbow. Upgrading this weapon will take some time; spend it by hunting or sleep at any haven. Wait for Cid's call and go back complete this sidequest.
