The guns in The Callisto Protocol are great tools to aid your survival in Black Iron Prison. Read on for a complete guide on how to use guns, including how to shoot, reload, and use the Strategic Targeting System!

How to Shoot and Use Alternate Fire

While melee combat using the Stun Baton is the staple in fighting the Biophages, guns can help you out in a pinch.

You can use guns to pick off enemies or deal chip damage before they get close to you. This ensures that you will have an easier time taking them down with the Stun Baton.

Upgrade Guns to Unlock Alternate Fire Mode

If you have upgraded a weapon to have an alternate fire mode, it can deal more damage at the cost of using more ammo. Use it wisely.

The Strategic Targeting System allows you to quick shoot and dish out burst damage while you are engaged in melee combat.

Striking the enemy with the Stun Baton enough times will cause the enemy to stagger and the quick-shot indicator will appear. If you aim down sights during this window, you will automatically lock-on to the enemy allowing you to fire a shot.

This is especially useful when dealing with multiple enemies and you want to quickly thin out their numbers.

How to Reload

You can manually reload your gun provided you have the reserve ammo in your inventory.

How to Swap Guns

Press 1 or Left D-Pad to Swap Between Your Primary and Sidearm

To swap between an equipped Primary and Sidearm weapon during combat, simply press 1 on PC or the Left D-Pad on controller. This will allow you to cycle back and forth between your Primary and Sidearm quickly.

However, do note that you can only do this for equipped guns. You will not, for example, be able to swap out your current sidearm for a different one using this method.

Change Equipped Guns via the Inventory Screen

The Callisto Protocol - How to Swap Equipped Weapons

To change your equipped gun, simply head on over to the Inventory Screen, hover over your desired gun, and hold the interact button (E on PC, X/A on controller) to equip it. This works if you want to change your equipped Primary or Sidearm before heading into combat.

Use the Quick Swap Menu to Change Equipped Guns During Combat

If you find yourself running out of ammo and needing to change to a different Primary or Sidearm, you can do so via the Quick Swap Menu.

While in combat or while moving, hit 2 on PC or the Right D-Pad on controller to bring up the menu. Use the scroll wheel or the Up/Down D-Pad buttons to cycle through your arsenal. Once you have a different gun highlighted, hit RMB on PC or X/A on controller to swap to the new gun.
