List of Contents
Contagion Mode is the hardest difficulty mode in The Callisto Protocol. Ammo and Health Drops are reduced to a certain extent, and dying means restarting the game from the very beginning. Expect the Contagion Mode to be more punishable than the Maximum Security Difficulty!
Difficulty Setting Differences
Contagion Mode is a Season Pass exclusive content. That means you need to get the Season Pass to access the Contagion Bundle, which contains the Contagion Mode and other rewards. The bundle will come out sometime in March 2023, according to their tweet.

Note that the Contagion Mode is not live yet, but these general tips and strategies are a good place to start when the Contagion Mode drops in! |
You have to master all the techniques in the game, like using the GRP, dodging, blocking, and more, to survive in Contagion Mode. You can go on Minimum Security difficulty and practice with weaker enemies first before taking on the Contagion Mode.
When playing in Contagion Mode, you are basically doing a deathless gameplay, as you will have to start over when you die. Memorize every nook, enemy spawn, chest, and item if you want to survive without dying in this hellish game mode.
If you can help it, try to avoid combat and sneak past enemies to progress. Since there is no guarantee for enemies to drop Ammo, Health Packs, or Credits, it is better to bet safely and steer clear of the enemies.
Settings | Options |
---|---|
Aim Assist | ON |
Aim Assist Strength | 3 |
Auto Aim | ON |
Auto Dodge | ON |
Melee Assist | ON |
Button Hold Assist | ON |
QTE Single Press | ON |
QTE Auto Complete | ON |
You can survive better in the unforgiving environment of the Contagion Mode by turning on all combat assist options. Enabling everything won't let you fear any combat encounters with the enemies in the game. However, you can still die if you're careless, even if all the combat assist options are active, so proceed with caution still.
If you want to finish the game the hard way, you can always set them off and be on your own!
Contagion Mode will come out a little bit later than the New Game Plus. You can use that time window to farm and upgrade all your weapons to the max to make it a little bit easier to finish the game on Contagion Mode.
