The Callisto Protocol - Different Attack Pattern
Every enemy in the game has different attack patterns, requiring you to memorize them to get better timing off your dodges. It is important to learn the enemies' attack pattern, especially if you want to finish the game on high difficulties!

Time the Dodge to Get a Perfect Dodge

If you dodge at the very last second before a hit is supposed to land, you will execute a Perfect Dodge. Perfect Dodges make Jacob enter a slow-mo sequence, allowing you to counter attack immediately with either a melee hit or a quick shot.

Dodging Doesn't Make You Invincible

The Callisto Protocol - Does not make you invincible

Unlike other games, The Callisto Protocol is more unforgiving, as the dodge mechanic won't make you invincible when you evade an attack. Even if you've successfully dodged an attack, you can still get hit by enemies that are behind or beside you within that time window.

Benefits of Dodging Attacks

Gives Openings to Counter Attack

After successfully dodging an attack, you will have a short time frame that will allow you to go for a counter attack. It's preferrable to use the melee weapon to conserve ammo, but you can also use your gun if you want to hit the enemies' weak spots specifically.

Gives Openings to Reposition

Dodging an attack will usually give you some space to move in, allowing you to escape or reposition when you find yourself getting boxed in by enemies. If you do find yourself getting swarmed, keep calm and dodge until you find an opening for a quick reposition. You can also buy time during the counter attack windows to use your GRP and create space to move in.

Press the Back Button to Block Attacks

To ensure a safe reposition, players can also slowly back away as they're dodging. Doing so allows you to dodge and attack while still being able to block any melee or ranged attacks, automatically. In order to block an attack, hold the back button (S on Keyboard, Left Stick Down on Controller) and you should block any attack thrown at you.
