Despite sharing the same creator in Glen Schofield (former vice president of Visceral Games), the stories of Callisto Protocol and Dead Space are not related in any way. Players can treat this brand new title by Striking Distance Studios as a spiritual successor to Dead Space, instead.

Play As Jacob Lee and Discover the Secrets of Black Iron Prison

Callisto Protocol - Play as Jacob Lee

Instead of engineer Isaac Clarke, players will take control of Jacob Lee (Josh Duhamel) - a pilot-turned-inmate on the dead moon called Callisto. Much like how the Markers in Dead Space birthed the Necromorphs, a mysterious infection is spreading within the prison. It is up to Jacob to uncover the secret behind the outbreak while fighting to stay alive.

Shares Similar Gameplay Mechanics

While they aren't connected by story, the Callisto Protocol does have similar gameplay mechanics to Dead Space based on the Official Launch Trailer. With a Kinesis System that allows players to move objects around and a heavy focus on graphic melee sequences, Dead Space veterans will feel right at home while playing the Callisto Protocol.

Design-wise, players of Dead Space should also feel right at home on the moon called Callisto. From its dark and sinister snowscape reminiscent of Tau Volantis, to the rather industrial and isolated prison colony that reminds us of the cramped USG Ishimura, it is safe to say that the Callisto Protocol is Dead Space's successor through and through.
