While The Callisto Protocol is no longer a part of the PUBG Universe or timeline, it does share some gameplay mechanics with the popular battle royale. Read on to learn more about the connection between The Callisto Protocol and PUBG and their gameplay similarities.

While it was formerly part of the PUBG timeline, Striking Distance Studios CEO Glen Schofield confirmed on May 27, 2022 that The Callisto Protocol no longer takes place in the PUBG Universe.
Despite being confirmed to be completely separate from PUBG, Glen Schofield also mentioned that the game will have "little surprises for fans," so The Callisto Protocol may have small nods or easter eggs referencing PUBG hidden throughout the game.
Even though the two games no longer have a concrete connection, they do share some gameplay mechanics. Like PUBG, The Callisto Protocol features third-person combat and a heavy focus on survival, so veterans of the battle royale may find the game tempting to pick up.
