Difficulty Affects Enemy Health and Damage

Difficulty Affects Enemy Health and Damage
Choosing a higher difficulty level will make enemies have more damage and health. Looking for the best options to kill an enemy will become necessary to survive.

Higher Difficulties Have Less Loot

You will see less ammo, health drops, and injectors throughout your playthrough when you start playing on more difficult game modes, specifically on Maximum Security and Contagion. You will need to search every room and corpse to get resources and manage them better to increase your chances of survival.

Best Difficulty to Choose

Enjoy the Story in Minimum Security

The Callisto Protocol - Minimum Security
Minimum Security difficulty is for players who only have a few or no experience with FPS horror games and only want to play the game casually and enjoy the story. More items will spawn on this difficulty, and enemies are easy to deal with as well.

Select Medium Security for Intended Difficulty

The Callisto Protocol - Medium Difficulty
Medium Security difficulty is best for players who want to play the game with just the right amount of combat difficulty. It offers an average amount of items and items that drop from enemies. Enemies also have regular health and damage, but still enough to take you out if you're careless.

Maximum Security is for Survivable Horror Veterans

The Callisto Protocol - Maximum Security
For players who want to experience a more hellish, unforgiving difficulty, Maximum Security is the right one for you. Enemies can easily take you out when they get a chance, and they will have more health on this difficulty. You will also have to manage your resources carefully, as there will only be limited items in your playthrough on this difficulty.

Hardcore Players Should Try Contagion Difficulty

The Callisto Protocol - Contagion
Contagion is the most difficult out of all the game difficulties in the game. Players who want to experience a realistic playthrough should go with this difficulty. It offers reduced item drops, including ammo and health drops, and a permanent death feature that won't allow you to continue where you left off when you die. It means you'll have to start all over again if you die.

Note that Contagion is a game difficulty only available for players who purchase the Season Pass. You can buy it to try the hardest game mode of The Callisto Protocol!

Best Settings for All Difficulties

Best Settings for Minimum Security

Settings Recommended
Aim Assist ON
Aim Assist Strength 1
Auto Aim OFF
Auto Dodge OFF
Melee Assist OFF
Button Hold Assist ON
QTE Single Press OFF
QTE Auto Complete OFF

Since Minimum Security Difficulty is not that hard, you can turn off most of the combat assistance settings and still be able to get far from the game without dying. But if it still proves hard for you to progress, you can always set them back on through the Options menu.

Best Settings for Medium Security

Settings Recommended
Aim Assist ON
Aim Assist Strength 2
Auto Aim ON
Auto Dodge OFF
Melee Assist OFF
Button Hold Assist ON
QTE Single Press OFF
QTE Auto Complete OFF

Medium Security offers the most balanced difficulty in the game. You can use the same settings as the Minimum Security, but you can also turn on the Auto Aim to make the combat a little bit easier.

Best Settings for Maximum Security

Settings Recommended
Aim Assist ON
Aim Assist Strength 3
Auto Aim ON
Auto Dodge ON
Melee Assist ON
Button Hold Assist ON
QTE Single Press ON
QTE Auto Complete ON

Maximum Security is currently the hardest difficulty available in the game. Combat will become more problematic on this difficulty, so you should set all the combat assistance settings to help you get by in the game!

Although if you want some more challenges, you can always turn them off and feel the realism better in the game.
