Tips for Taking Down Ferris |
---|
|
There is always a Reforge Terminal before each encounter with Captain Ferris. Upgrade your weapons and stock up on healing and ammunition at these Terminals before heading into each fight to improve your chances of taking him down.
Before buying supplies at the Reforge Terminal near the second Ferris encounter, we recommend moving ahead into the arena without triggering the boss fight and collecting drops from the blue boxes. Doing this can save you from buying unnecessary Health Injectors and ammo.
Ferris can mix up the number of melee strikes he performs and shrug off hits while he attacks. Stay patient while dodging his attacks and only counterattack during clear openings to avoid taking unnecessary damage.

Instead of using the inventory screen to access your items, utilize the Quick Swap and Quick Use keys to make yourself less vulnerable while fighting Ferris.
Since Ferris stays up close and only uses melee attacks in the first encounter, he is particularly vulnerable to the Riot Gun's high close-range damage. Stock up on Riot Gun ammo before the first encounter and use the gun often to give yourself an easier time during the fight.
Riot Gun Upgrades and How to Get
In the second encounter, Ferris gains access to a ranged attack and summons Exploders to come after you throughout the fight. In light of this, we recommend bringing the Assault Rifle for the second encounter, as it excels at all ranges and can make short work of the Exploders.

Ferris First Encounter (Chapter 7: Colony) |
|
---|---|
1 | Prepare to Dodge His Initial Combo After the cutscene with Ferris ends, he will immediately charge at you to perform a multi-hit melee combo, so prepare to dodge this initial flurry of strikes. |
2 | Only Act Between Combos After throwing out 3 to 6 punches, Ferris tends to back off to perform a taunt that lasts for a few seconds. Take advantage of this opening to attack Ferris, reload your weapon, or swap between guns. |
3 | Stay Calm If He Grabs You During the fight, Ferris can sometimes grab you and kick you to the ground opposite where you were standing. Since this attack does not seem to do damage and prevents you from getting cornered, don't panic when it occurs. |
4 | Dodge and Counterattack Until The Fight Ends Repeatedly dodge Ferris's attacks and hit him between his combos until you trigger a cutscene, signaling the end of the first encounter. |

Ferris Second Encounter (Chapter 8: Tower) |
|
---|---|
1 | Dodge and Counterattack in Phase One After the cutscene with Cole and Ferris ends, Phase One of the fight begins. This phase is mostly the same as the first encounter, but Ferris often punches more than 4 times in a row. Dodge Ferris's attacks repeatedly and counterattack between his combos to get through this phase. Prioritize using melee combos to conserve your ammo for the next phase of the fight. |
2 | Aim for the Head in Phase Two Once Phase Two starts, Ferris's head becomes his primary weak spot, though he protects it with a barrier. Concentrate your firepower on Ferris's head to break through the barrier and deal heavy damage. |
3 | Prioritize Taking Out Exploding Foes After dealing enough damage to Ferris's head, he will eventually regenerate his barrier while roaring. When he does this, up to four exploding foes will spawn around the arena. Prioritize taking out these enemies from afar to avoid taking unnecessary damage during the fight. These foes also drop ammo and Healing Gel which can be incredibly useful throughout the fight. |
4 | Utilize the Explosive Tanks Around the Arena You can find explosive tanks scattered around the arena. Pick them up with your GRP and send them flying toward Ferris to deal heavy damage. |
5 | Wear Ferris Down Until He Dies Repeatedly break Ferris' barrier and deal damage to his head while dodging his melee and ranged attacks until he eventually goes down. |
