Before the arrival of the Iceborne Expansion, The Taroth Crest Claw was considered by many Lance mains as the best all-purpose Lance in the game.

While other Lances such as the Fiendish Tower and Kjarr Lances have superior attack ratings and sharpness, the Taroth Crest Claw has an insane 30% base affinity. Coupled with its hidden element, this meant that the Non-Elemental Boost skill can be paired with this Lance and compensate for its 437 attack rating.

These factors enabled the Taroth Crest Claw to take the top spot as the Best All-Purpose Lance Pre-Iceborne Expansion.
