List of Special Shots

This is a guide to all Special Shots available in Mario Golf: Super Rush for the Nintendo Switch. Learn about the effects of each Special Shot as well as who can use them below!

What Are Special Shots?

Special Shots are powerful shots that vary depending on the character, although some characters share the same Special Shot. By using one, you can get more distance or height on a shot, and even put your opponents at a disadvantage on their next stroke.

How to Use Special Shots

Charge the Special Shot Meter

The way the Special Shot Meter gets charged depends on the game mode you are playing. In Standard Golf, the meter is filled by completing holes, but in Speed Golf, you can collect coins to fill the meter as well.

Use Special Shots With the L Button

Once the Special Shot Meter is full, you can activate your Special Shot by hitting the L button before you set the power of your shot. Be aware that doing so will increase the maximum distance of your shot, so only start aiming once you have already activated it.

Mario

Super Star Strike
Blasts away balls on impact.

This Special Shot is shared between Mario, Daisy, Donkey Kong, Bowser, and Toad.

This shot can arch over walls and obstacles and is very effective in situations where multiple opponents' have made it onto the Green.

How to Use Mario

Luigi

Ice Flower Freeze
Freezes ground on impact.

Luigi's Special Shot is perfect for slowing down opponents in Speed Golf as they will have trouble running over the frozen ground. This Special Shot does not affect characters that float like Rosalina or Boo.

How to Use Luigi

Wario

Lightning Blast
Generates lightening interference for other players.

Use this Special Shot at a distance from the hole on stroke 1 as the lightning effect it adds to opponents hinders their ability to make high-powered shots, giving Wario an advantage in getting to the hole first.

Waluigi

Slim Stinger
Blasts away balls in its path.

This Special Shot is shared between Peach, Waluigi, Pauline, Chargin' Chuck, Toadette, and the Mii Character. It gives the shot more distance and can put your opponent's ball in a worse position for their next stroke.

Spiral Stinger
Blasts away balls in its path.

This Special Shot is shared between Peach, Waluigi, Pauline, Chargin' Chuck, Toadette, and the Mii Character. It gives the shot more distance and can put your opponent's ball in a worse position for their next stroke.

Daisy

Blossom Strike
Blasts away balls on impact.

This Special Shot is shared between Mario, Daisy, Donkey Kong, Bowser, and Toad.

This shot can arch over walls and obstacles and is very effective in situations where multiple opponents' have made it onto the Green.

How to Use Daisy

Yoshi

Eggschanger
Turns balls into eggs on impact.

Yoshi's Special Shot is similar to the other high arching Special Shots in the game, but can turn other player's golf balls into eggs on impact. This makes the ball more difficult to aim, so it's best used when your opponents are getting ready to line up a putt on the Green.

Donkey Kong

Burly Strike
Blasts away balls on impact.

This Special Shot is shared between Mario, Daisy, Donkey Kong, Bowser, and Toad.

This shot can arch over walls and obstacles and is very effective in situations where multiple opponents' have made it onto the Green.

Bowser

Meteor Strike
Blasts away balls on impact.

This Special Shot is shared between Mario, Daisy, Donkey Kong, Bowser, and Toad.

This shot can arch over walls and obstacles and is very effective in situations where multiple opponents' have made it onto the Green.

How to Use Bowser

Bowser Jr.

Smokeball
Creates blinding smoke in landing zone that hides the flag, hole, and balls.

Bowser Jr.'s Special Shot has the same high arching shot as many other characters, including his father. However, Bowser Jr.'s shot creates a smokescreen effect that hides the flag, hole, and balls. Use this to land on the Green before your opponents so that they have difficulty aiming.

Boo

Mischief Twister
Haunts balls on impact curving their trajectory.

Boo's Special Shot is similar to the other arching Special Shots in the game, but haunts the other balls on impact causing them to curve. Use this Special Shot when your opponents are on the Green, giving their next putt an extra layer of difficulty.

How to Use Boo

Rosalina

Shooting Star
Turns balls into Star Bits on impact so that they can’t be hit straight.

Rosalina's Special Shot is similar to the other arching Special Shots in the game, but has the ability to turn other balls into Star Bits making it difficult for the opponent to aim their next shot.

Use this shot at a distance from the hole on stroke 1 so that your opponent will have difficulty aiming a high-powered shot towards the hole.

How to Use Rosalina

Pauline

Songbird Stinger
Blasts away balls in its path.

This Special Shot is shared between Peach, Waluigi, Pauline, Chargin' Chuck, Toadette, and the Mii Character. It gives the shot more distance and can put your opponent's ball in a worse position for their next stroke.

One small difference for Pauline's Special Shot is that she sings a verse of Jump Up, Super Star! from Mario Odyssey before hitting the ball.

Toad

Super Toad Strike
Makes the ball grow giant and blasts away balls on impact.

This Special Shot is shared between Mario, Daisy, Donkey Kong, Bowser, and Toad. One difference for Toad's Special Shot is that he uses a Mega Mushroom and makes the ball grow giant before hitting it, but the function is the same as the others.

This shot can arch over walls and obstacles and is very effective in situations where multiple opponents' have made it onto the Green.

How to Use Toad

Chargin' Chuck

Scrimmage Stinger
Blasts away balls in its path.

This Special Shot is shared between Peach, Waluigi, Pauline, Chargin' Chuck, Toadette, and the Mii Character. It gives the shot more distance and can put your opponent's ball in a worse position for their next stroke.

One small difference for Chargin' Chuck's Special Shot is that, instead of hitting the ball with a golf club, he throws it like a football toward the hole.

How to Use Chargin' Chuck

King Bob-omb

Bob-ombs Away
Spawns bombs in landing zone.

King Bob-omb's Special Shot is similar to the other arching Special Shots, but has the unique point of spawning bombs surrounding where the ball lands. This can be a double-edged sword as it can knock opponents balls closer to the hole if aimed improperly as shown above.

Mii Character

Power Stinger
Blasts away balls in its path.

This Special Shot is shared between Peach, Waluigi, Pauline, Chargin' Chuck, Toadette, and the Mii Character. It gives the shot more distance and can put your opponent's ball in a worse position for their next stroke.

Toadette

Super Pickax Stinger
Blasts away balls in its path.

This Special Shot is shared between Peach, Waluigi, Pauline, Chargin' Chuck, Toadette, and the Mii Character. It gives the shot more distance and can put your opponent's ball in a worse position for their next stroke.

How to Use Toadette

Ninji

Hop Skipper
Blasts away balls with each bounce.

This Special Shot is shared between Ninji and Koopa Troopa. It allows the shot to bounce several times on the ground and travel farther on the course while also blasting away balls on the spots where it hit the ground.

Koopa Troopa

Shell Skipper
Blasts away balls with each bounce.

This Special Shot is shared between Ninji and Koopa Troopa. It allows the shot to bounce several times on the ground and travel farther on the course while also blasting away balls on the spots where it hit the ground.
