The Jagras Deathclaw is one of the easiest greatswords to get early on in Iceborne. It features a white sharpness and a sealed water element. It's element being sealed is both a good and a bad thing because it makes the weapon weaker against monsters that are weak to water but it being able to deal raw damage allows you to use it against any enemy.
It can also be strengthened by the Non-Elemental Boost skill and will greatly increase its raw damage potential. This Greatsword is entirely sufficient to carry you until the game's later stages or even completing the whole storyline.

The Mammoth Great Axe II can be crafted from the same tree as the Great Jagras Deathclaw II. It also features a sealed element and can be buffed with the Non-Elemental Boost skill. It has higher damage than Great Jagras Deathclaw II but suffers from lower Sharpness. Get this if you want more raw firepower from your strikes!
Lightbreak Blade | ||||

Sharpness |
|
This is one of the highest damage dealing Greatswords available before the Fatalis fight. It sports a whooping 1440 Attack and a 360 Blast Buildup. While the Blast status is great, its naturally high damage is what makes this greatsword so great while being coupled with a small Purple sharpness bar. With some Handicraft skill, that Purple Sharpness goes a long way.
The Safi' Jiva Greatswords are the way to go! They have elements and ailments depending on the weapon you get. We highly recommend going for the elemental weapons or the Blast weapon for more damage output. It's also great due to the Safi weapons' ability to have a monster's essence in the weapon itself. This allows the player to make flexible builds consisting of a 4 set armor and another 2 set armor+weapon combo for great armor set bonuses during fights!

The Immovable Dharma follows the same logic as the Great Jagras Deathclaw II except it has more sharpness and damage. It's the highest non-elemental damage greatsword and is often used many end-game builds.
Black Fatalis Blade | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Rarity | Attack | Affinity | Elem. | |

Sharpness |

It goes without saying that the baddest monster is the source of the baddest greatsword around. The Black Fatalis Blade features an astronomical damage of 1632! While it has a negative affinity, it can be offset with affinity giving skills.
The weapon can also be augmented for increased affinity to further lower the Negative affinity it provides. It also has 2- 4 slots for level 4 decorations and if partnered with a full fatalis set, allows you to add pretty much any skill to your arsenal.
