Before the arrival of the Iceborne Expansion, the title of best Insect Glaive in Monster Hunter: World was highly contested. Insect Glaives such as the Diablos Tyrannis II, Kjarr Glaive Paralysis, True Gae Bolg, and Grunge Storm were considered top-tier Insect Glaives with each of them having valid arguments as to why they should take the top spot.
The Empress Cane Styx, however, beats them all by addressing the one issue all of these top-tier Insect Glaives faced: Sharpness. It's inherent Razor Sharp/Spare Shot Skill allowed hunters to dish out maximum damage at a significantly longer timespan than most Insect Glaives. Additionally, The Empress Cane Styx's Blast rating of 210 made it an amazing all-purpose Insect Glaive, cutting down any monster that stands in its way.
These factors made The Empress Cane Styx one of the easiest Insect Glaives to build around and has definitely earned the title of Best Insect Glaive pre-Iceborne Expansion.

The True Fatalis Dyaus arrived with the Final Free Update for MHW: Iceborne and has instantly usurped the Lightbreak Press as the best all-purpose Insect Glaive.
With an amazingly high base attack of 1101, the raw damage from the True Fatalis Dyaus alone is enough to outperform almost all Insect Glaives in their own elements - making it THE Insect Glaive for end-game hunters if built around correctly.
