Deviljho Best Equipment

Best Weapons to Use

Dragon Elemental Deviljho can inflict dragonblight but it's also weak to dragon itself.
Thunder Deviljho is weak to Thunder too. Make sure to use thunderweapons if you don't have a good dragon weapon in stock.
Weapons with Long Reach Deviljho is a towering monster, this makes hitting its upperbody hard without relying to other tools to take him down. This forces short ranged weapon to hit the legs which can be inefficient in terms of damage.

Best Armor To Use

Any armor loadout from Iceborne Expansion is enough to deal with a Deviljho (Tempered and non-tempered). For building armorsets, it's highly suggested to focus on the meta skills for each of your weapon to maximize your damage.

Non-Elemental Boost
hunter guide This build relies on consistent damage instead of huge damage bursts from critical strikes. You get a steady 40% affinity from your skills and Deepest Night but its true build defining skill is True Razor Sharp. It allows you to continue fighting until a monster dies/ retreat without having your sharpness dull. A non-elemental boost decoration is added to improve your damage even further.

Best Mantles To Use

Rocksteady Mantle Deviljho has a wide array of roars and tremors to stop the hunter in his/her tracks. The rocksteady mantle can easily negate this which allows you to get several free hits while uninterrupted.
Temporal Mantle Free dodges increases survivability. It can also allow you to flinch shot the Jho anytime you want (as long as it's not enraged)
Dragonproof Mantle
Only if using Dragon weapons
Dragonproof Mantle prevents you from being afflicted with Dragonblight AND it also increases your dragon damage. Make sure to bring a Dragonproof Mantle if the Rocksteady Mantle or the Temporal Mantle is unavailable for you.

Best Palico Loadout and Felyne Skills

Vigorwasp An extra life will always help. Be sure to swap this out with a different gadget like the Meowlotov or Coral Orchestra once its revive effect has been used.
Meowlotov Cocktail Additional free damage is always welcome.
Baan Ball Sporting a 2 star weakness to sleep makes equipping your Palico a Baan ball almost necessary. A freesleep means a free flinchshot.
Felyne Maestro's Baton α+ Deviljho is susceptible to paralysis (2 stars) so equipping your palico with one can allow your trusty partner to paralyze the jho.
Felyne Insurance / Safeguard More lives are always welcome.
Felyne Moxie Unlike Fatalis, AT Velkhana's attacks doesn't have DOTs. This makes Moxie an incredible skill to have as a single max potion can instantly refill your HP to full.
Felyne Tailor More mantle uptime is always welcome. The bonus isn't too huge but it can still possible help.

How to Beat Deviljho

Deviljho Tips
・Adamant Seeds can remove defense down
・Tremor Resistance is useful
・Cure Dragonblight with Mulberries
・Weapons with shields can make the hunt easier

Countering Status Effects

If Deviljho has bitten you, your defense will be significantly lowered. It is extremely dangerous to fight Deviljho with your defense down. Immediately counter this by using an Adamant Seed, this will not only remove the defense down, but it will also slightly raise your defense for more survivability.

Also, if you manage to get hit by Deviljho's fire breath attacks, you will be inflicted with Dragonblight. You can cure this using Nullberries.

Ground Tremors

Since most of Deviljho's attacks can cause minor and major tremors in the surrounding area. It is best that you get at least level 2 Tremor Resistance so you can safely move away from his attacks if he gets too close.

Using Guard

Most of Deviljho's attacks can be blocked by using a weapon with a shield. Using weapons with a shield can make the hunt much safer especially if you do not have good enough gears. Also, if you want to further increase your defensive capabilities, you can get the skill Guard Up for more survivability.

Melee Weapons

Deviljho has a weak head and it is the best part to attack throughout the hunt. However, because of its height, it may be difficult for most weapons to focus on attacking this part. You can try aiming for the legs instead of consistent damage if you are having a hard time hitting the head.

Drugged Meat

When Deviljho is tired, it is possible to lure and trick him using a Drugged Meat. This will put him to sleep and it will allow you to set up some Large Barrel Bombs to deal major damage.

Dragon Breath

How to Beat - Deviljho 1.png
Deviljho will always raise his head before executing his most powerful attack, the Dragon Breath. This attack can be difficult to avoid and it can take a huge chunk of your health or even cart you if you have low defense. Try to move away or move to his sides when he raises his head to prepare yourself from avoiding this attack.

Deviljho's Counter Attack

How to Beat - Deviljho 2.gif
Deviljho will sometimes do a counter-attack after getting hit. He will immediately scoop the ground using his mouth and chase you as you run away. Always be prepared to disengage during the hunt to avoid getting caught by this attack.

Also, you can take Deviljho down if you deal enough damage while he is scooping the ground. You can play more aggressively if you are confident that you can down him with your attacks before he can hit you.

Trample and Tremor

How to Beat - Deviljho 3.png
Deviljho can use a trample attack where he raises his legs and continuously slams it to the ground. This can cause some major tremors which can stop you from moving away. You can counter this by using gears with at least level 2 Tremor Resistance.

In addition, if you manage to get out of the trample's range, you can use a Flash Pod to stop his attack and stun him for a few seconds.

Deviljho Attack Patterns

Ground Rush Rush towards the hunter while scooping the ground with its mouth.
Body Slam Attack using his whole body.
Bite Attack Forward bite with added dragon affinity. (Can also inflict defense down)
Trample Attack that uses his foot, this can cause major tremors in the surrounding area.
Double Bite Bite two consecutive times and then rushes forward.
Dragon Breath Step back and then shoots a large fire breath forward. (Dragon Attribute)
Continuous Bite Sudden continuous bite attack.
Jump Attack Jump towards the hunter and then slams the ground with its feet. This is sometimes followed up with a bite attack.
Rock Toss Forward attack using the rocks from the ground.
Tail Sweep Sweep the ground using its large tail.
