Because of the high costs of using Poundmates, it is better to use your money in buying items and equipping your character with gear and weapons to make them stronger during the early to mid game.

If you have enough money to avail a Poundmate's services, it is recommended to get them to help out during boss battles. Poundmates have high stats that can turn the tide of battles!
Money Farming Guide: How to Get Money Fast
Access to Poundmates is unlocked during Substory 4 of Chapter 3. You'll be forced to select the Poundmates app to use against Threatening Men to introduce the mechanic to you.
Substory 4: Busted! Guide and Rewards
Poundmates is a mechanic that allows you to summon an ally to help out during battles for a fee.
Poundmates can only be accessed during Kasuga or Kiryu's turns. You'll have to wait until it's their turn to summon powerful allies!
