Combo Attacks are attacks done by two allies in cooperation with each other.
Combo attacks are activated when you start an attack very close to an ally. If you see an arms linked icon on top of an ally, the attack is going to be a Combo Attack.
After a regular attack, the enemy will be pushed back towards the attack's direction. If the enemy gets pushed back towards an ally, a Combo Attack also happens.
When selecting an enemy to attack, you'll see a green arrow under an enemy. Aim that arrow towards an ally to perform the combo attack.
If you raise your Bond Level with allies, the possibility of Bond Abilities activating will increase. Bond Abilities occur automatically when an enemy goes down; no need to worry about the position of an ally.
There are many other advantages to raising Bond Levels, such as the damage of combo attacks increasing at higher levels. Bond Levels are also a condition for changing jobs and learning new skills.
You can increase Bond Levels with an ally by filling out their respective Bond Bingo.
An ally will perform a follow-up attack if it is near the attacking character when the attack is performed. If the ally is close enough, the combo attack will get triggered instead.
Follow-up attacks are a bit similar to combo attacks, since both involve more than one ally attacking on the same turn, but the key difference is that a combo attack is cooperatively performed together by two allies, while a follow-up Attack is an attack that just directly follows another ally's attack.
Unlike a combo attack, the follow-up attacks can also trigger following an ally skill or a Combo Attack. Also, there's no indicator if a follow-up attack will happen.
