This means that Playing Like a Dragon allows you to get to know many of the characters you'll encounter in Infinite Wealth.
The second main character of Infinite Wealth is Kazuma Kiryu. He was the protagonist of all the Yakuza games (Yakuza 1-6).
As shown in the official story trailer above, Kiryu suffers from cancer and has written a bucket list of things to do before he dies, aiming to look back on his past and reuniting with former friends, which appeared in previous games. These parts of the game with Kiryu will definitely be more exciting if you have played the previous games.

The Kiwami games are remakes. Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of Yakuza 1.
If you really want to play something in preparation for Infinite Wealth, just playing its predecessor Yakuza: Like a Dragon is enough.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon was designed as the reboot of the series. In the west, it is the first game to use the Like a Dragon title, with the Yakuza title being removed from succeeding games.
It is the first game where the main protagonist was Kasuga Ichiban instead of Kazuma Kiryu, so you'll get to know all about Ichiban just by playing that game.
Like a Dragon was also the first mainline title to have a different game genre. It was a turn-based RPG, while all the mainline games before it had real-time action gameplay.
