Attacks from behind your enemy multiply your damage by 1.5. If you have the chance it is highly recommended that you attempt to hit your enemies with a back attack as your opening attack to deal more damage.
If an enemy is targetting you, you will not be able to land a back attack. However, if you have other people in your party, then they can land back attacks to deal more damage to the enemy.
If you are sandwiched between enemies, it also means that an enemy can land a back attack on you. Always have your back guarded, either by a wall or by another party member.
Successfully executing a Perfect Guard will significantly reduce the amount of damage you will take if an enemy attempts a back attack on you.
