You can escape battles in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (Yakuza 8) by holding down L1. Check out this guide to learn more about how to escape battles and tips for successfully escaping.
Players that wish to escape from a battle can do so by holding down L1 (or LB). Do note that the success of your escape will be determined by a number of factors. If you attempt to escape the battle and fail, this will result in you losing a turn.
Conditions That Can Affect Your Escape▼
Smoke Bombs can be useful for escaping battles since the effect of this item is to give you a high chance of escaping. Using this item would be your best bet when fighting high-level enemies or when there is a wall behind you.
If there is a wall or object obstructing your escape path or if the level of your enemy is much higher than yours, it is more likely that your attempt to escape the battle won't be successful. Enemies that are a higher level than you are marked with a pink icon.
When taking on more important fights such as boss fights, note that you will not be able to escape the battle. If you're in a battle and you can't escape, holding down L1 won't cost you a turn.
Upon successfully escaping from a battle, the enemy from that encounter will disappear. Raid battles can also disappear so if you are really determined on taking down an enemy, make sure to have recovery items at the ready.
