You can unlock this contract quest by reading the letter on the Notice Board at Velen near Orenton or by talking to Bytomir near Byways.
This quest is not failable.

| 1 | Talk to Milan about the details of the contract or approach the village in Byways. |
| 2 | Deal with the ghouls prowiling the village. |
| 3 | Use your Witcher Senses to explore the village and find the surviving villagers. |
| 4 | Follow the scent of blood using your Witcher Senses. |
| 5 | Explore the tunnels under Byways using your Witcher Senses. |
| 6 | Find and Kill Ekimmara. |
| 7 | Take the Trophy from the Ekimmara Corpse. |
| 8 | Report back to Bytomir or Milan to collect your reward. |
Its better to receive the quest from the notice board in Orenton to maximize the XP and gold reward that you can receive while doing this quest.
You will encounter Ghouls as soon as you arrive in Byways, equip your Grapeshot Bombs and cast Quen Sign before approaching the village to better prepare yourself for the fight.
The XP and Gold you will receive will depend on how you will take the quest. However, regardless of how you finish this quest, you will receive the sword Bloed Aedd and Ekimmara Trophy.
You will receive a decent amount of both XP and gold if you received the quest from the Notice Board and talked to Milan.
You will receive more gold but way less experience if you didn't report to Milan in Orenton during this quest.

We do not recommend doing this quest. The benefits that you gain from this quest are not very useful for your progression in the game. Finishing this quest will be mainly for the sake of the game's completion and to have more knowledge about the Witcher World.
