How to Use Insect Glaives

This is a guide on how to use everyone's favorite aerial weapon in Monster Hunter World (MHW), the Insect Glaive. Read on more to learn about their controls and how to effectively use it.

Insect Glaive Basic Controls

Kinsect

Using your Kinsect is one half of utilizing the Insect Glaive. Learning the different essences and buffs they can apply, will allow you to maximize your damage output, as well as effectivity when fighitng Monsters.

Mounting and Aerial Attacks

What sets the Insect Glaive apart is the aerial aspect. This allows a hunter to pursue a Monster even when in flight. When you gather the White Kinsect Essence, this will increase your speed and vault height, which will make your aerial attacks more effective.

Mounting

In Monster Hunter World, the Insect Glaive is argubly the best weapon for mounting monsters. Unlike most other weapon users, mounting monsters via the process of running up a surface and jumping on the monster is not nessesary because of the weapon's airborne nature. When you perform aerial attacks, dealing enough damage midair will give you the opportunity to mount the monster. Performing an aerial attack in conjuction with harvesting both the red and white Kinsect Essences to maximze your damage will make you the best Rodeo Champ around!

In Iceborne, the Clutch Claw is introduced. This does not render the Insect Glaive's mounting ability useless. Instead, this can be used in assistance of each other. Mounting the monster with the Insect Glaive will then give you a prompt to use the clutch claw.
